As a company, Aspects Holidays employees are given three volunteer days a year to help in the local community. Jackie and Kim, both Holiday Coordinators, Molly, Marketing Assistant and Rhea, Finance Administrator all went along to iSight Cornwall’s AGM meeting to help make the teas and coffee for the members.
iSight Cornwall is a charity that supports those affected by sight loss, regardless of age and circumstances. Its yearly AGM is a big event within the charity, where members vote on motions, discuss finances, hand out awards to volunteers, and enjoy an array of entertainment.
Taking place at St Erme Community Centre, The Aspects team were tasked with making the members teas and coffees and keeping their mugs topped up throughout the day. Everyone tucked into a pasty lunch from Philps at midday followed by entertainment from Oll an Gwella who sang some well known Cornish shanties. Everyone joined in with singing and dancing before the bingo wrapped up the day.
Here is what the team had to say about the day,
‘Connecting with so many individuals with different backgrounds and stories really makes you see things from a different perspective! The pasty lunch and Cornish singers just made the day complete, everyone was so friendly and welcoming.’ -Rhea.
‘There is always some anticipation as to what to expect, however, it soon went. The team made us feel so welcome, I had so much fun, and everyone was so lovely. The pasty and singing were a bonus to what was already a great day.’-Jackie.
