We are delighted to announce that we have donated £250 to help support Kevranna (meaning to share in Cornish), who support local people with their St Ives Community Foodshare scheme, saving food from landfill to share with the community.
With the rising food and living costs, and the huge amount of food waste in the UK, St Ives Community Foodshare rescues food from supermarkets and redistributes it to local people. Anybody is welcome regardless of their income or employment status, there are six collection points a week, where people are encouraged to stop food waste as well as feeding themselves.
Kevranna offers other projects in the local community, including Skill Share, a social club offering a welcoming creative space to share and learn new skills and crafts, as well as the offer of a hot meal. Communications Manager Gemma Taylor and Marketing Assistant Molly Rusden went along to one of the Wednesday groups to learn more, here is what they had to say about the group “This is a fantastic space for people to come together and socialise, loneliness is a major concern in society today and to have a weekly group to go to and take part in activities and receive a hot meal is so important for social and mental wellbeing.”
