We are thrilled to have recently joined the Refill revolution and are now able to offer guests and members of the public free water refills at our offices.
With an ever-increasing global plastic problem, we have been doing our bit to help the environment. In November 2018, after making conscientious changes to minimise the impact plastics have on the environment, we were awarded Plastic Free Champion Status by the Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Communities campaign.
By signing up to Refill, a growing campaign that works to reduce plastic waste by connecting people with locations where they can eat, drink and shop with less waste, we aim to reduce the use of single-use plastic bottles. Members of the public are welcome to refill their water bottles at the following Aspects Holidays offices: Hayle, St Ives, Penzance, Mullion, Falmouth, Mevagissey, Wadebridge and Bude.
When refilling at one of our offices, we recommend that you download the Refill app. The app keeps a record of how many plastic bottles and grams of carbon you’ve saved by using the Refill station. In addition, the app has a map to point you in the direction of other local Refill stations and stores.
Some other changes we've made to reduce plastic intake include ordering milk (in glass bottles) and dairy goods from Kinsei Refill and switching to reusable coffee cups. In addition to this, other positive environmental improvements include: purchasing an electric van and hybrid cars for the company; planting trees and a selection of wildflowers in the office garden and increasing recycling in the office. Furthermore, the team at Aspects Holidays aim to undertake at least one beach clean a year at various beaches across Cornwall.
Here’s what Commercial Director, Mandy Spencer, has to say:
“We coined the phrase ‘we love where we live’ years ago and it’s really important to us to look after where we live too. Welcoming in excess of 70,000 visitors to the county every year, by implementing these small changes to our business we can have a big impact, both on the environment and the attitude of our team, guests and owners to do what they can to look after Cornwall’s delicate ecosystem.”
