At Aspects Holidays we are passionate about the environment and keeping our precious green and blue spaces clean. As part of our commitment to the Cornish environment, we regularly participate in beach cleans, doing our bit to keep the sea and sand free of plastic and other pollutants. Beaches form such an integral part of Cornwall’s identity, so it’s vital to keep them well-maintained, for today and future generations.
With quieter beaches during the autumn months, it’s the perfect time to hit the sand. At the end of October, we participated in a beach clean as part of the Surfers Against Sewage ‘Million Mile Clean’- a campaign aiming to clean 10 million miles of UK landscape by 2030! Armed with litter pickers, bags and an enthusiasm to get stuck in, a team of us headed to Marazion beach, near the famous St Michael’s Mount. Wrapped up against the windy weather, waves crashing behind us, we spread out along the shore, collecting bits of plastic, discarded rubbish, fragments of rope, and more. Our most interesting find - a cassette tape!
Consisting of litter that has been washed up, left behind, carelessly discarded, and blown in by the wind, it always amazes us how much can be collected during a short beach clean. If, like us, you love the beach, why not take a bag along with you next time you visit the beach? Every piece of rubbish collected is one less in our beautiful landscape.
