We are delighted to announce that we are the first corporate sponsor of the hedgehog rescue centre in Cubert, near Perranporth.
Founded by mother and daughter Diane and Katy, Prickles and Paws Hedgehog Rescue’s mission is to provide rescue, emergency care, rehabilitation, and release for native wildlife across Cornwall. Funded purely through donations, grants and sponsorship, Prickles and Paws take in thousands of injured or abandoned hoglets and hedgehogs every year.
Hedgehog numbers have been in rapid decline over recent years and have been reclassified as vulnerable to extinction. The donation of £1000 will help cover the costs of vital supplies to be able to rescue and rehabilitate hedgehogs, and inspire learning and conservation through their educational talks and popular social media platforms.
The charity has just been given planning permission for their first bespoke ‘Hogspital’ in Newquay. The new premises will allow them to offer care to more hedgehogs, with an increased capacity for admissions, and enhance their education and volunteering opportunities.
Katy, founder of Prickles and Paws says of the donation “2021 saw the charity’s busiest ever year with just over 1,300 admissions, and 2022 is following a similar pattern - July was our busiest month on record with 214 admissions. The funding through our new corporate sponsorship scheme will go towards providing the intensive care that many of these hedgehogs need to make it back to the wild, from surgeries to specialist diets for orphaned hoglets.”
Mandy Spencer, Commerical Director for Aspects Holidays, says:
“We are delighted to be the first corporate sponsor supporting this wonderful, local organisation, close to our Perranporth office. We are a team of animal lovers and look forward to sharing stories of how Prickles and Paws are helping our hedgehog population.”
