Earlier in the year we were delighted to offer a donation of £1000 to The Hugs Foundation, a Bodmin-based charity that rehomes horses, ponies and other animals whilst also providing animal therapy across Cornwall. We were even more delighted when Hugs visited our head office in Hayle with Dude, the therapy pony. The team were all thrilled to meet Dude and hear more about the incredible work done by the charity. In late October, The Hugs Foundation announced an emergency fundraiser to allow them to rescue and rehabilitate a herd of orphaned foals in desperate need of immediate care. We were more than happy to help and further support the charity with an additional donation of £1000 to help save the foals.
After a successful fundraising campaign, some of the our team were lucky enough to visit the foundation and meet the foals, including Jimbo who Aspects had the honour of naming. It was decided to name the foal after Jackie and Kimberley; two Holiday Co-ordinators who initially recommended the charity earlier in the year.
Laura Dennis, Fundraising Manager at The Hugs Foundation says 'We are incredibly grateful for the kindness Aspects Holidays have shared with our charity. Their donation has enabled us to rescue an 8 week old foal who the Aspects team have lovingly named Jimbo. The team recently visited Jimbo to meet him and see the beginning of the impact their donation is making to his life. We are looking forward to sharing his rehabilitation journey with them and finding him his forever home, once he is old enough and in full health. The Aspects team have been so supportive and are such a lovely bunch of people, donating raffle prizes to help raise funds for Hugs work. It is just amazing to see a local business supporting Hugs with such kindness and leading the way in corporate social responsibility.'
Kimberley Kellard, who recommended Hugs for a donation and one of Jimbo's namesakes says of the visit 'It was so heartwarming to meet the animals and see the lovely ladies who run the centre in action, they are amazing! The work they are doing is fabulous, helping so many different people, truly amazing!'
