This Friday Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh will be making their first Royal visit to St Ives. Arriving by train into St Erth station, they will change for the branch line, passing through Lelant and Carbis Bay before reaching their destination.
Her Majesty will start their tour of St Ives by visiting the St Ives RNLI station, Aspects chosen charity for 2013. After meeting the volunteers and their families in the morning the royal couple will take a private tour around the building before unveiling a plaque to mark their visit.
Around noon the Royal Party will move on to the Tate St Ives for a tour around the building and admire the magnificent views over Porthmeor beach. They will be meeting staff of the gallery as well as artists and architects.
As a founding supporter of the Tate St Ives, Aspects Holidays Business Director, Damian Sargent, will have honour of meeting the Queen herself, along with a few select business delegates from St Ives and supporters of the Tate.
The Queen and Prince Philip will finish their day in Marazion where they will take lunch with the St Aubyn family on St Michael’s Mount.
Please be aware that due to this spectacular occasion there will be some road disruptions. In St Ives there will be a road closure in place from 9am-1pm on the stretch of road between the Porthminster junction, through the town and harbour area, to the junction leading past the Tate St Ives (junction of Porthmeor Hill/Alexandra Road).
