February Half Term with the Kids

Treat the young ones (and yourselves) to some entertaining days out during February Half Term week (12th-16th), where a world of wonder, fun and exploration awaits throughout Cornwall.

Whether you wish to get outdoors and adventure amongst the beyond-beautiful scenery or stay indoors for some top-notch entertainment, the county is awash with options for all kinds of family and their holidaying whims.

Along with all-year-round attractions that guarantee a good time for all ages such as the Eden Project, National Maritime Museum Cornwall, Newquay Zoo, Cornish Seal Sanctuary, Blue Reef Aquarium, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Tamar Valley Donkey Park and Farm World, the schedule of events designed especially for families presents a mesmerising mix of things to see and do.

Take a seasonal stroll with a Winter Walk at Lanhydrock (15th 2-4pm) or visit the glorious National Trust house for their Winter Tree ID on 10th February (10-12pm).

There’s Family Storytelling Walks at Godolphin House (11th-17th), or a Fun Feb Fitness Trail and Half-Term Seed Planting (11th-18th) at Trengwainton Gardens near Penzance.

Nearby Nature at Newquay Zoo (10th-18th Feb) presents an exciting mini-schedule of events throughout the week, while kids can embark upon a fantastic Glendurgan I-Spy Trail (10th-18th Feb) at Glendurgan Garden.

The whole family can have a skate around the ice rink at Eden (until 18th) for a chilly slice of fun-filled action, or can venture outdoors to discover more and help the environment during the Chapel Porth Beach Clean (16th 11-12pm), who will supply gloves, bags and litter pickers along with a free drink for beach cleaners afterwards at Chapel Porth Café.

The Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s enticing and eclectic schedule of things to do presents a similar outdoorsy vibe and includes owl themed activities during Have a Hoot (10th) in Falmouth, Build A Bird Nest Box (13th) in Illogan, Homes For Bugs (14th) near Liskeard, Bird Ringing and Arts & Crafts (17th) in Truro and their Reserve Clean on 17th at Churchtown Farm Nature Reserve in Saltash.

Get crafty with a Rag Rug Workshop at Tintagel Old Post Office (14th, 11-3pm), or help to reduce gorse and blackthorn and be rewarded with a jacket potato lunch from the bonfire during Scrub & Spuds at Pentire Head in Port Isaac (14th, 10-3pm) or at Epphaven near Polzeath on 10th (10-3pm).

Half term fun at Cotehele includes Bushcraft for Kids (12th-14th), while a visit to Paradise Park presents the Little Pirates and Fairies Quiz (10-18th).

Whatever you choose to do in Cornwall this half term, you're sure to fill your time with fun activities.
