Playing Nice: filming locations in Cornwall

With mesmerising landscapes and magnificent seascapes, it's no wonder Cornwall is home to many famous filming locations, from Poldark to Doc Martin, House of Dragon and Beyond Paradise. Cornwall is back on TV screens as the backdrop to ITV's latest hit show, a captivating psychological drama called Playing Nice.

Based on the bestselling book by JP Delaney, where two couples' worlds are turned upside down with a shocking revelation and starring James Norton, the show has been relocated from its London location in the book to the dramatic Cornish coast. Here's a round-up of the locations from the tense series! 

Mevagissey

Mawgan Porth

Just north of Newquay, Mawgan Porth is the location of Miles and Lucy stunning coastal home with uninterrupted sea views, and it's the show's spot for Pete's surfing scenes. With properties in the pretty, sheltered cove you can stay in Mawgan Porth and learn to surf with King Surf School, just like the show's protagonists.

Watergate Bay

The home of Maddie's restaurant overlooking the sand is the renowned Zacry's at Watergate Bay. Stay near Watergate Bay and explore the scenic coastal path, sandy shoreline, and popular eateries that sit on the beachfront.

Bedruthan Steps

Park Head, at Bedruthan Steps is the location for one of the penultimate scenes in the show, although the beach at Bedruthan is closed, you can walk along the coastal path taking in the stunning scenery! Stay in nearby Newquay and embark on a beautiful ramble along the majestic coastline.

Jubilee Pool, Penzance

Maddie and Lucy visit the UK's largest lido, Jubilee Pool with their boys, whilst Pete is also filmed swimming in the sea water at the art-deco pool. With a geothermal pool (closed during winter) and a cafe and sauna, the Jubilee Pool is popular with locals and visitors alike. Stay in Penzance and visit the lido for a refreshing morning dip, pre-booking is required!

Minions, Bodmin Moor

Bodmin Moor in Cornwall

Cornwall's highest village, Minions in Bodmin features as Scotland in the series, with Pete visiting to investigate his suspicions around Miles's seemingly perfect character! Stay in nearby Wadebridge or mythical Tintagel, or make a pit stop on the moors on your way!

Tate, St Ives

Tate, St Ives in Cornwall

In the show, a glamourous fundraising event takes place at the iconic Tate St Ives, attended by the two couples. Overlooking Porthmeor beach, you can stay on one of our St Ives cottages close to the gallery, which is home to modern art installations and a celebration of Cornish artistic culture.

Newquay
