The team at Aspects Holidays were kindly invited for a private tour around Polgoon Vineyard followed by wine tasting in their gorgeous outdoor café.
A group of 10 of us headed over to the vineyard, nestled between the trees in Penzance, excited at the prospect of seeing how their favourite beverage is grown and produced all in Cornwall no less!
Our fabulous guide Ryan told us all about the tricky growing process in the Cornish climate and took us on a wander around the vines, with the idyllic backdrop views of Mount’s Bay. We learnt that sparkling wine is the best to be grown in the UK climate. We also got to see inside the winery and talked through the process of winemaking, Ryan was a brilliant guide and made the tour interesting and fun as well as informative.
We then sat down to taste five of their award-winning wines under the vines in the heated outdoor café. Here is what the team thought about the afternoon:
"I really enjoyed the tour of the vineyard, it was very interesting to learn about how so many factors affect the wine flavours, the alcohol content and colour."
“A really interesting and enjoyable tour of the vineyard followed by a delicious wine-tasting experience (especially the Seyval Blanc Sparkling!) would recommend to anyone!”
“Ryan was great, made us feel relaxed and welcome. Loved the tour and the wine of course, I shall return soon for another taster session.”
“What a great experience! Ryan was so informative and the tour was really interesting. I will definitely be recommending a visit to friends, family and our guests and for the pizza oven nights too.”
" I had no idea just how much time and effort is involved in winemaking! Such an interesting tour and talk....and the wine tasting was an added bonus!"
We all left feeling like wine connoisseurs!
