It’s one of north Cornwall’s events that always leaves a lasting impression on its visitors and creates an easy-listening soundtrack to rival the hypnotic pitch of the ocean itself.
Bude Jazz Festival is arguably the town’s top must-visit event, which continues to gain repute and popularity both on a local level and beyond courtesy of quality musical acts and eclectic schedule of entertainment.
Marking the end of summer and August Bank Holiday in memorable style, the four-day festival is undeniably a highlight of the calendar, with 2017’s event listed for 29th August-1st September and signalling no less than 30 years of jazz in Bude.
With the provisionally booked likes of Brownfield Byrne Hot Six, Richard Leach’s 7 Stars of Jazz, Jools and the Jazzaholics, Savannah Jazz Band, Scarlette’s Serenaders, Budapest Ragtime Jazz Band, Tom Kincaid Trio with special guests Jamie Brownfield and John Hallam – and more – it’s a stellar smorgasbord of who’s who in Britain’s modern jazz world.
Expect a magnetic mix of traditional and New Orleans jazz presented at a variety of locations in and around Bude, Stratton and Marhamchurch allowing you to experience a range of unique sights and, of course, sounds.
From dozens of live jazz concerts to electrifying street parades and a jazz picnic, the town and its inhabitants come alive to the polyphonic beat of blues, ragtime, swing, brass-band marches and beguine.
A range of full stroller, individual day, and single session tickets means that whether you’re in town for the entire event, fancy following your favourite band or want to experience a jazz-inspired day out with the family, all types of visitor and jazz appetites will be catered for.
