A group of five of us at Aspects Holidays were kindly invited to have a go at E-Biking with Xpress Bikes based in Hayle. We headed down to their shop on North Quay to meet the wonderful Dave, who let the team hire five E-Bikes for an afternoon's adventure around the Cornish coastline!
On arrival, we were given helmets, water, and one of the team oversaw the first aid kit (just in case!). After a full brief including a practice on how to use the bikes from Dave, we were then given our route and sent on our way!
Luckily, the weather was on our side, and we were fortunate enough to ride 22 miles in the spring sunshine, with the route consisting of a scenic South West Coast Path and a bumpy ride through Tehidy Woods, blooming with bluebells.
The batteries on the bikes last between 24 to 30 miles, so this is a great way to explore Cornwall on two wheels!
Here is what the team thought about the experience:
“I loved it!! I would 100% do it again, it was a really nice way to see the coast and enjoy the county and see more than you would on foot, I am not overly confident on a bike, but I found the route fairly easy for beginners and it felt like a real accomplishment doing 22 miles.”
"We had the most amazing cycle ride – I never thought I would be able to cycle 22 miles, but the power-assisted bikes made it so easy. We got to see such lovely scenery, cycling along the coast path from Hayle to Godrevy, smelling the gorse (surprisingly very coconutty!) and then weaving in and out along the North Cliffs and then, my favourite part, through the bluebell-laden woods at Tehidy Country Park. Then we made our way back to Hayle through leafy country lanes, via the lovely village of Kehelland. We were breezing up steep hills, and negotiating the bumps and trails of the coast paths with ease, as the bike is so easy to use. It was the perfect 4 hours of lovely Cornish sea air!"
