Holidays in Bude

Carrying the title of Cornwall’s northern-most coastal town, Bude is perfectly placed to enjoy some of the north coast’s beautiful beaches and coastal walks.

Bude has so much to offer when it comes to things to do, including a fabulous town with a wide selection of independent shops, cafés, and restaurants – not to mention the wildest live music venue in Cornwall. In addition, visitors can meander along Bude Canal, stretch out on one of the many beaches, or enjoy a gentle cruise in a pedal boat or kayak, observing the beautiful area from a different angle. The town is home to the historic Bude Sea Pool and The Castle Bude, both a must if you are in the area.

For those who enjoy walking, the South West Coast Path can be easily accessed from Bude. You’ll be blown away by the stunning scenery and breathtaking views along the coastline – it’s also a great dog-friendly day out!

With so much on the doorstep, it’s the perfect destination for a holiday by the sea!

Top tip

Take a dip in the historic Bude Sea Pool at Summerleaze Beach!

Beaches in Bude

Each with its own character and charm, the beaches in Bude are great whether you’re a swimmer, surfer or sand-snoozer.

Summerleaze Beach – Boasting the iconic sea pool, and only a five-minute walk from the centre of Bude, Summerleaze Beach is Bude’s central hub of sand, surf, and sun. Clean, safe, and easy on the eye, Summerleaze Beach is a big hit with surfers, sun-bathers, and families. However, it’s the sheer variety of activities that mark Summerleaze as arguably one of the best beaches in Cornwall for outdoor pursuits and watersports so definitely swing by if you love a hands-on holiday.

Crooklets Beach – At low tide, you’ll find a huge expanse of golden sand along with lots of rockpools to explore, making it very popular with families. There’s also decent surf and lots of amenities nearby including a beach café for those all-important ice creams and even a skate park.

Widemouth Bay Beach – Stretching across one and a half miles of golden sands, Widemouth Bay is divided into two halves, the North beach and the South beach, separated by a natural barrier of rock known as Black Rock. As the tide retreats, amazing rock formations are exposed - perfect for rockpooling and getting back to nature!

Northcott Mouth Beach – Three miles North of Bude is the small rocky beach Northcott Mouth, which is owned by the National Trust. As the tide drops, the beach opens up to expansive sand with rockpools dotted all around - perfect for exploring with the dog all year round.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Milk House. It is very comfortable and welcoming. Attention to detail was great with flowers on the tables along with a well thought out welcome pack. Adrian was a great host. Would highly recommend staying at the cottage.

The Milk House was the best holiday home we have ever stayed in!! The cleanliness was second to none! Fantastic welcome packs for both us and our dog Ruby. No expense spared! The Milk house February holiday.

Excellent location, beautifully furnished, very well equipped, comfortable beds. Loved the fact, wood was supplied for wood burner and the welcome packs for humans and dogs, were superb.

What's not to like

Had a very lovely time at the milk house, we had a warming welcome gift and beautiful flowers on the table, fantastic land to have a walk and explore. Only negative is that the driveway to the property has lots of potholes and very bumpy.

We are pleased you enjoyed the peace and quiet that The Milk House has to offer! The grounds are lovely to walk around and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. The rural location does mean that that there is a traditional farm track leading to the property, so we advise to take the track slowly, and alternative access can be arranged for exceptionally low cars. We hope we can welcome you back to Cornwall soon. Katy, Customer Services.

The Milk House is a really lovely cottage in a beautiful location, and we had an absolutely fantastic stay. Adrian and Jules have thought of everything to make it the perfect place for a relaxing break, including a wonderful welcome pack. Thank you for being such warm and friendly hosts. We very much hope to be able to stay again soon!

Our stay at The Milk House was fantastic. From the first moment we felt very welcome and we were so happy about the welcome presents for us and our furry friend. The cottage was in the middle of nowhere, but that was excatly what we were looking for. The hosts were very nice and helpful. What a perfekt week, thanx so much.

Lovely accommodation. Very friendly hosts. Welcome pack was fabulous. Be aware of the approach to the accommodation as quite bumpy & uneven.

We loved the location and accommodation. Our hosts Adrian and Jules were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. It was a lovely quiet spot with outstanding views which all went to making a relaxing holiday. The welcoming pack for us and our dog were much appreciated. We would definitely consider staying again.

Absolutely beautifully renovated property, lovely welcome pack provided by the hosts Adrian and Jules who couldn’t have been more helpful . Highly recommend

The milk house is a very calm beautiful Cottage situated on an old farm, about 15 km away from the coast. The house is very well furnished and clean, the hosts Jules and Adrian are very helpful and friendly. The road to the house is about the last 200 metres in a bad condition and very humpy, so you have to be careful with the choice of the car to avoid damages.

Thank you for your lovely feedback! We are so pleased you enjoyed the tranquil surroundings of The Milk House, it truly is a beautiful location. We hope you managed to spot some of the local deer and other wildlife during your stay. Due to being in such a remote location, the lane can be quite bumpy for lower vehicles so we recommend taking it at a steady pace. If you have any concerns before your stay regarding access please do let us know as we can organise an alternative route for some cars if needed. Katy, Customer Services.

I cannot recommend the Milk house enough. Beautiful rural location. Furnished to a high standard. Excellent equipment and facilities. An extensive welcome pack. Beautiful walks around the grounds and the owners Adrian and Jules were very helpful and welcoming. We will definitely return. Thank you Adrian and Jules for a great holiday.

The Milk house cottage was absolutely amazing! Beautiful cottage, amazing facilities very clean.

Jules & Adrian left lots of information about the local businesses Ie pubs close by etc!

Jules very kindly brought over a map for dog friendly beaches- which was really helpful as we wasn’t aware there are some bans throughout the year!

They even left lovely goodies for humans and pup- the giant chocolate buttons was incredible and our pup loved his treats and bone! Will 100% recommend to friends and family and would rebook again! Thank you again Jules and Adrian!

The Milk House is in a lovely location for getting away from it all, but still close enough to visit North Cornwall, Bodmin and Fowey area.
