Once you've stumbled upon this cosy country cottage with its views and relaxing interiors, you will already be planning your return.

The coastal village of Pendeen offers you various eateries and shops on your doorstep, as well as several, small local businesses with fresh local produce, all within a short distance.

PLEASE NOTE - A new development of six houses in the field to the front of the property will be taking place over 2024 and 2025. We are currently trying to get some firm dates for this work however due to the development being located in the field to the front of the property the sea views may be significantly reduced in 2024

Holidays in Pendeen

Once a thriving mining area, Pendeen is home to the award winning Geevor Tin Mine Museum, which was one of the last mines in the country to close. Retaining the feel of a traditional Cornish village, and with stunning scenery on the doorstep, Pendeen is perfect for a self catering summer holiday, out of season visit, or short break.

Although secluded, theres still plenty on offer in this part of West Cornwall. Situated in a National Landscape (formerly Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), Pendeen is also recognised as a site of special scientific interest and a world heritage site. Pendeen is the perfect place to explore the ancient sites of Chun Castle and Chun Quoit, and the rugged coastline for which North Cornwall is renowned. Walkers will be in their element with access to the South West Coast Path, and many inland walks.

Top tip

Visit the Count House Cafe at Geevor Tin Mine for breakfast or lunch with a view!

Pendeen Lighthouse

Another popular attraction in the area is Pendeen lighthouse, a dramatic landmark which once housed Britain's second largest set of foghorns. With the South West Coast Path passing to the south, it makes an enjoyable stop-off point on a coastal walk.

Portheras Cove

A lovely traditional cottage tucked away with lovely sea views. Great location for long coastal walks followed by meals at the Trewellard Arms. Well equipped, clean and bright with a lovely garden although only outdoor chairs for 4. Remember to pack the basics as there are only a few teabags, coffee and sugar awaiting your arrival. Supermarket deliveries available from Penzance so worth arranging to coincide with arrival.

Very cozy and spacious cottage in a brilliant location. It has everything you need. We had a very relaxing time. Thank you.

Nice cottage in great location. Lovely coves and lighthouse. Fabulous coastal path walk to Land’s End (a bit challenging in very hot weather though!). Regular tin coast bus service.

A very comfortable and deceptively spacious cottage. Coastal walks easily available directly from the property.

The cottage was lovely! Beautiful surroundings & wonderful walks directly from there with easy access to the coastal paths.

We stayed for a week in October and had a wonderful visit. The house is better than promised by the pictures, thoughtfully kitted out with love by the owners with high quality things. The peace and tranquility of the location, and the views from the bathroom and kitchen will stay with me for a long time. Upstairs has a spacious landing and three lovely bedrooms, whilst downstairs the open plan living dining area was a great space for stretching out and relaxing. Overall we found this a great place to base ourselves, and would definitely recommend it to people who like to be off the beaten track.

Beautiful, well equipped cottage. Friendly neighbours. Plenty to do nearby. Loved Pendeen Lighthouse and the surrounding area.

Lovely week staying in Tesen Gales, Pendeen. Great location. Familiar with the area as been holidaying in this part of Cornwall for numerous years as a family. Photo book detailing the story of the owners renovation was a lovely touch to share with guests. Highly recommend this property for a quite, out the way stay.

First the good parts. Lovely area, cosy(ish) cottage, good garden for the dog and fairly high walled so was safe to just leave the door open for her to come in and out. Gorgeous views from the Kitchen and Garden apart from the new building site but there was no work going on as yet that disturbed us. Beds are very comfy and shower was pretty nice. Nice and clean throughout. Biscuits and apple juice was a nice touch though was looking forward to the cream tea as in the pics.

Now the not so good parts but these are more recommendations to the owners just to make the stay a more pleasurable. Please provide enough pegs so the whole washing line can be utilised and a better/bigger airer or two as the house does sleep up to 6 people. Tea, coffee, sugar and just a pint of milk would be a nice touch on arrival although I think this was supposed to be provided according to the book.

Bedrooms desperately need wardrobes and please provide enough coat-hangers in all of them to be able to hang things rather than just two chests of drawers. There is plenty of room in all rooms to add a wardrobe in each one, we had to live out of our suitcases pretty much. The place felt a bit sterile when we arrived with everything so white and empty, and very much felt like it was just about to be put on the market to sell. We stay in self catering every year and this was the first one that I felt cold in.

Pictures/artwork/plants on the walls/shelves would be nice as each of the bedrooms and bathroom felt more like white painted monk cells than cottage rooms. A second bin in the kitchen for recycling waste as there is only one main waste bin currently, we all need to be eco friendly! The bedroom doors desperately need fixing so there’s no need for slamming them in the middle of the night. I like rustic but come on... Please put full length and or dressing table mirrors in each of the bedrooms, as it is we had to move the mirrors around as there was only 1 in one of the rooms and 1 hanging in the hallway upstairs.

All these are small issues which didn’t actually cause major problems as such but providing them would go a long way to making things perfect at Tesen Gales. The little things make all the difference! We would be happy to stay again if these things were addressed.

Thank you for all your suggestions. All feedback is passed straight on to owners for their future consideration. We try to be completely open and honest with website photos and descriptions so that guests know what the décor is like and what kind of furnishings are available, so we hope that all of what you had noted was what you had expected before arrival. It is always really helpful for us and owners to know what additions or changes would most benefit guests though, as you often get to experience the properties in a very different way than we would when we visit them briefly, so we appreciate all the suggestions. To avoid any confusion for future guests, we just wanted to highlight that the property is set up to sleep 5 guests, rather than the 6 that has been mentioned in your comments. We were sorry to hear that the housekeeper had forgotten to put the milk, tea, coffee, and sugar in the property for your arrival. You are quite right; these should have been provided for you. Anything extra, like cream teas, biscuits, juices and so on are all down to individual owners and may vary from week to week or at different times of the year. Any food and drinks shown in photos are not an indication of what will be left in the property for guests, so we are sorry for any confusion around that and we hope that you still managed to get a lovely cream tea from somewhere while you were here. Our second stay in this comfy and roomy cottage tucked away in Pendeen was as good as our last. The cottage is well equipped and really quiet.

Whilst you cannot always park on the road by the cottage their is always space not too far away.

Good value for money. We will be back.

We had a great week staying at Tesen Gales. The cottage is so well equipped and has extremely comfortable beds and sofa and has been lovingly restored by its owners. It was also spotless. We found the location to be perfect as everywhere was within a 20 to 30 min drive and we visited St Ives, St Michael’s Mount, Porthcurno, the Minack theatre, Bottalack mines, Cape Cornwall and many other local beaches. We were also lucky in the good weather we had.

Firstly the good points. Lovely clean and well equipped cottage. Good local walks, shop and pub. Close proximity to other tourist attractions, especially the local tin mine. However, the brochure description of "uninterrupted views" turned out to be looking out over a noisy building site with diggers and dumper trucks. Aspects helped us resolve this with the owners, but the holiday experience still has left us feeling very disappointed. We don't plan to return. Bernadette & Stephen Hunt. March 2022

Thank you for taking time to send in your review and for bringing this to our attention during your stay. We are glad that you still liked this lovely property and its fantastic location, despite the unexpected arrival of diggers. We would never intentionally withhold such information and we hope that you can see from the notes now added to the website, we always do our best to make sure that guests are pre-warned of any change in circumstances before booking. Ourselves and the owner of Tesen Gales genuinely had no prior warning of this. All those guests who have already booked have now also been contacted. We appreciate that this would have been very disappointing and whilst from 20th May through to the end of 2022, guests will not experience the kind of disturbance that you did, there will be a lot of work taking place up until 20th May and a discount offered to all those guests as a result. We are saddened to hear that this experience would stop you from staying here again, as this property still has so much to offer, and we can only hope that one day we will have the opportunity to restore your faith. Perfect Holiday A beautiful property, very clean and welcoming set in beautiful surroundings with easy access to lots of walking and beaches. The cottage had absolutely everything we needed and is beautifully presented and very comfy. Please don’t change a thing, we will definitely be back

Stunning cottage, felt like we were the first to use as it was so spotless. No expense spared on decor or equipment, furniture etc. Log burner was great and easy to use and made the house feel like home. Great views, close to a few pubs, shop, coast path, lovely garden, people in the village and pubs were lovely and welcoming, felt like a community alive and vibrant not just a hub of tourists holiday lets and second homes. It was February so weather wasn't great but house was so nice that it didnt put you off going out in rain knowing that it would be lovely to return.

Lovely cottage. Such a relaxing and comfortable place to stay. Highly recommend it to you! The bed was especially comfy!

A cosy and comfortable cottage with a relaxing ambience.

Absolutely loved our Christmas stay at Tessen Gales (Dec 21). It was a quiet, peaceful stay away from the busyness of the world. On arrival, the cottage was spotlessly clean and tidy, with Cornish shortbread and local apple juice, which was a lovely touch. The cottage has everything you’ll need and the quality of it all is spot on. We have stayed at Driftwood, St Ives, many times and are sure it’s the same owners, looking at the quality and standard of both properties. Fab location which was a hit with the runner in the family, he was off coastal path running every day! Shall definitely be back for another visit. Loved the added touch of the photo book the owner had created, showing the stages of the cottages refurbishment. They’ve done a fantastic job in creating this perfect getaway.

Lovely cosy cottage, and by cosy I do not mean small, beds very comfortable, property very clean and well equipped with lovely views from the kitchen, bathroom and single bedroom. Great base for walking the South West Coast Path. Would love to visit again

Excellently equipped little cottage in the perfect location for cliff top walks, easy to find parking nearby and lovely traditional pubs within walking distance.

Second visit to this lovely spacious cottage, is relaxing and quiet, love the views from kitchen window a great place to stay.

We were extremely happy with our stay at Tesen Gales, ideal location with sea views, very good facilities at the property, very clean, good access to all local attractions but in a quiet area, ideal for families and pet lovers with private enclosed garden, we would not hesitate to stay at Tesen Gales again

We loved our stay - beautiful cottage

A lovely properly in a great location.

The beds were super comfy and a fabulous shower! The garden is also a bonus.

Tricky to find, as it is located down a small alley/lane. But once there all is great.

The North Inn does good food, but be prepared to wait to be served after all the locals!! But rude but thee you go.

The Commercial at St Just sells wonderful food, especially local burgers. Stunning!

The house was absolutely perfect. It is a beautiful cottage with fantastic sea views. Perfectly located for walks along the coast path. It is fully equipped for both humans and dogs with a brilliant enclosed garden which the dog loved and with lovely sea views which we loved. The beds are very comfortable which helped for a good night's sleep after a long day of walking! The team at Aspects holiday are friendly and so helpful. We have had a fabulous holiday and would definitely recommend Tesen Gales and Aspects Holidays.

Loved Tesen Gales. Views wonderful. In real wild cornwall. So comfortable, characterful and peaceful. Also brilliantly well appointed. You do need special parking skills, however.. but it's also very well connected with buses nearby. Great for walkers and lovers of unspoilt coastline. Decent proper pub only a short walk away.

From the moment we walked in we felt relaxed. It is a beautiful cottage with amazing views and very comfortable. We will be booking again. Aspects Holidays are a lovely company and always professional and helpful.

A delightful cottage in an excellent position very near the SW coastal path. There is an excellent small Spar at the top of the road which was extremely well stocked next to a lovely chip shop. Can’t vouch for the pubs as we don’t drink but I believe the North Star does excellent curries. The transport connections are great which means walks on the coastal path and a bus back to base are a breeze. Highly recommended.

We loved our stay at Tesen Gales, the cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Our dog loved the garden (and the log burner) and the views out to sea are amazing. Pendeen is a great place to explore local heritage so be sure to check out the old tin mines which are a short walk from Tesen Gales. The lighthouse is also a fab place to visit with lovely coastal walks to boat cove, Portheras Cove and beyond. We will definitely be returning.

Beautiful spacious cottage home from home. Wonderful location Cottage was very clean and well equipped.Really enjoyed our holiday.

Accommodation is just perfect. Two great local beaches, 2 mile coast walk, one with ramp access, the other is not suitable for those with mobility impairments. Can drive and park at the lighthouse then 200 yards along coast path. Large tin mine area 5 min walk from the cottage. Can recommend visits to Mousehole & Sennen.

A lovely cottage with stunning views. Everything in the cottage was excellent quality. Would love to come back in the summer and make use of the lovely garden. Pendeen is a lovely village we just felt at home here. St just is also a lovely Village with some quaint shops.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage. The village is quiet and was a great base to explore this more remote area. The views are magnificent from the kitchen window and upstairs adding to the feeling of being away from it all. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. It was a lovely place to come back to after a day out. We would thoroughly recommend staying here.

We stayed in Tesen Gales with our three children. It was immaculate and an extremely comfortable stay. The description and photos don’t do it justice. From the kitchen window you get an unspoiled view of the sea and the sunset at night is incredible. The gardens are enclosed and very safe for children and pets. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked with all utensils. We spent most days out and about. St. Ives is about 20 minutes drive and Mousehole is another good day out.
