Holidays in Porthleven

Whatever you love about Cornwall, we’re sure you'll find it while enjoying a holiday in Porthleven. Relax and enjoy the boats bobbing in the harbour, pull on the walking boots and join the coastal path to Rinsey and Praa Sands, take a short drive to nearby Marazion and the iconic St Michael's Mount, or hit the waves and surf until sunset.

This charming fishing town has a relaxing atmosphere; it's gorgeous in the Summer and dramatic during the Winter. The granite harbour and pier with its famous clock tower has become an iconic storm-watching spot during wild wintry weather and offers a tranquil setting on calmer days.

Take a short break out of season in Porthleven and avoid the hubbub on the roads and beaches. Soak up the sun on the harbour front and watch the fishing boats pass by. Catch the first glimpses of colour from the acres of Cornish daffodils in early spring with the sea as a back drop as you drive from coast to coast. With easy access to the coastal footpath, head east to discover Gunwalloe Fishing Cove, Polurnan Cliffs and Mullion Cove or head west and marvel at Praa Sands, Perranuthnoe and Marazion.

Take a short walk from Porthleven and reach the coarse sand of Porthleven beach, reaching two miles south as far as Loe Bar, a sand spit separating the sea and forming Loe Pool, the largest freshwater lake in Cornwall.

Porthleven harbour is an enjoyable place to relax, with its cafés, pubs and restaurants providing the perfect place for you to sit outside and watch the world float by!

Top tip

Like storm watching? Visit in winter and you may be lucky enough to experience huge waves crashing over the clock tower!

Lovely property in a great location, five stars from me

The property is in a good position - just a stroll to the harbour, restaurants, bars and shops.

I would not recommend it for anyone who is unsteady on their feet.

Lovely place and a great location with shops and harbour in easy reach. Great large towels.

The cottage was perfect for our family holiday located very close to the harbour and all facilities but in a quiet area. Good sized parking for our large car and the mezzanine layout was great. Ample room for the whole family with a perfect sized patio with table and chairs. Bedrooms were comfortable and the whole experience enabled us to have a great relaxing family holiday.

Great smart property with a parking space in a lovely town. Well equipped and only 30 seconds walk from the harbour.

Visited Porthleven for many years and loved our 2nd time at Rosen Chy. Easy to book and very helpful staff in Porthleven. Everything you could want in the cottage and in an excellent spot with parking. Only thing to say is hope the A30 road at Chillington is completed before our next visit as the journeys there and back were a complete nightmare.

Lovely comfortable property in a convenient location close to the centre of Porthleven

Rosen Chy is a fantastic cottage in an excellent location, literally a 30 second walk to the harbour. The cottage was immaculate, quiet and comfortable. We loved Rosen Chy and will definitely book again. Porthleven is our new favourite place.

Absolutely loved Rosen Chy. Have been visiting Porthleven for very many years and it’s on our list as one of our favourite now. Everything was great and a very good position. Def be back

A great location in a wonderful Cornish village so nice to be near all the facilities and be able to go on walks from the cottage without the car. Handy to have a parking space too

Kitchen was well equipped and nice to have the dishwasher and washer dryer.

Would recommend the fish and chip shop yards from the property delicious food and friendly service. Some great local food options and the supermarket had a good selection of local delights and with good and long opening hours.

Nothing wrong with the place safe and comfortable but not sure we would return for the price we paid. Didn’t like all the traffic (cars and pedestrians) passing the living room window felt a bit like a goldfish but that’s a personal preference

Excellent property, idealy placed close to the centre of town, nicely laid out for a relaxed holiday.

Perfect location very clean definitely go again

We stayed in the cottage a few times and the one next door, Chy Kensa. Rosen Chy has a good layout and there is ample crockery, cutlery and cooing utensils. Dishwasher and washing machine/Dryer is a bonus although drying does take some considerable time. The bed is comfortable and the shower id divine, nice and powerful with plenty of hot water. The cottage is right bang in the Centre of the village and the nearest pub is 20 metres away. Lots of lovely restaurants all within walking distance, you don't need your car.

Smashing cottage with a great location and a bonus parking space. An ideal location with lovely views from the bedroom windows. Spacious for a family of 4 and an ideal base from which to explore Porthleven and the surrounding areas.
