Steeped in history, Downalong is a timeless haven that captures the fishing heritage and thriving art community of this enchanting area of St Ives. With all that St Ives has to offer on your doorstep, spend endless days exploring the sandy shores, stunning coastal paths and bustling harbourside.
Downalong is a historic Cornish term for an area of harbourside fisherman's cottages 'down along the harbour'?

Mr Witney Aug 2024
It had everything you could need and was in a great position but it wasn’t clean enough and smelt of dog / perhaps for dog owners only. Outside space was a bit disappointing too.

Thank you for your review, we are pleased to hear you enjoyed the location of Trelither, and found it had everything you could need for your time away. We would always want everything to be perfect for your arrival, but on those rare occasions when it is not, we would have been more than happy to send the housekeeper back to rectify any areas of concern. While we do understand not wanting to be disturbed, it’s a shame we couldn’t get these things sorted for you. The owner is very proactive in combatting any pet odours within the property by having deep cleans regularly, including a professional cleans of all sofas, the rug, and all carpets. Very comfortable cottage and very well equipped. Have already booked again for next year!
Mrs Matthews Apr 2024
Having stayed in many houses in St Ives over the last 15 years both with Aspects and others, this is by far the best. Every single detail had been thought of, the most stocked kitchen we have seen. Very comfortable in all aspects for a perfect trip away. We will be back!
Mr Phillips Feb 2024
Wonderful cottage, perfectly located and really well appointed with everything you could need to make your holiday a success. We stayed between Xmas and New Year and there were some very thoughtful touches such as a Xmas gift and lovely Xmas decorations. We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely stay in this property again.
Mrs Rutherford Jan 2024
The property was in a great location, so close to Porthmeor and Porthgwidden beaches. It is tastefully decorated and we loved the works of art on the walls too!
Mrs Chapman Aug 2023
Ideal location for families with small children as the walk to Porthgwidden is approx 2 minutes and 5 minutes into town. The kitchen is very well equipped and the furnishings were lovely! Highly recommend this property.
Mrs Hurst Aug 2023
Excellent house to stay in, comfortable, well equipped and in the great location to everything in St Ives.
Mr Clint Jul 2023
Excellent property. Ticks every box. No steep hills to walk up, easy to unload. Very comfy beds. Good kitchen.
Mr Dutton Jun 2023
Lovely cottage in a great location. Easy to load and unload into due to access to adjacent private car park.
Mr Jensen Oct 2022
The cottage was perfectly located with access to the main beaches of Porthmear and Porthwidden and steps away from the harbour. It was beautifully presented, very well equipped and tastefully decorated. The rooms were spacious with crisp white linens and decent mattresses. Kitchen had everything and there were plenty of glasses which is sometimes a down fall in previous rentals. Thank goodness there was a cafetière as that’s often an item missed. Well done to the owners! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!
Mrs Rogers Aug 2022
Excellent property for money. Professional service from Aspects as always.
Mr Dutton Jul 2022
Excellent cottage, well located and equipped. The owners have thought of everything you need for a comfortable stay. Steep stairs, so not ideal if you have mobility issues, but there is a pit stop on the first floor if you need it! Upstairs en suite is a challenge for taller guests due to the sloping ceiling. However, the comfort of the bed and indeed the bedroom more than makes up for it. Love St Ives where we've stayed many times and love Aspects Hoildays whom we've used previously as well.

Thank you for your comments and it is great to hear how much you liked Trelither. Many of the traditional fisherman's cottages in the heart of St Ives have kept their character and charm. They are often a little smaller and layouts/stairs more quirky and steeper than in more modern buildings, so it is an important consideration when booking a property like this. We always try to be as open and honest as possible and try to give an accurate representation of properties within our photos and descriptions, so hope that we have achieved that in this case, but we will continue to monitor feedback. We hope that it suited all members of your party and hope that you enjoyed everything that St Ives had to offer. Thank you for taking the time to send in your comments. Tanya, Customer Services.
Amazing property in the heart of St Ives. Pictures do not do it justice. Furnished and decorated to a high standard. Well equipped kitchen. Can't wait to come again.
Mrs Russell May 2022
This was a lovely place to stay. The location was perfect - close to all our favorite beaches and a quick stroll to reach all the shops restaurants etc. The cottage itself was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed eating in at the property. It was a great holiday and we would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay.
Mrs Emerson Apr 2022
Lovely property, very well equipped. Fantastic location - almost next to 3 beaches, the Island with its car park and very close to Town.
The Mermaid Restaurant is literally round the corner, as are lots of art galleries.
Mrs Thomas Mar 2022
Excellent property near to the town and the beaches. Take a week and explore all St Ives has to offer by way of culture, shopping, food and outdoor activities (walking, surfing etc.). You can also take the dog.
Mr Avey Oct 2021
I stayed in the cottage for a week with family and friends and the location of the property made it a perfect escape. It is right in the heart of the town but also only a couple of minutes walk from the beach and the Island car park. The rooms all display local works of art that create a very special atmosphere of being in St Ives rather than any other sea side village which we loved. The cottage is very well equipped and the kitchen in particular has everything that you might need to cater for 6 adults and any friends that drop in. Very comfy beds and pillows which is a definite plus in rented accommodation.
Mrs Buckingham Sep 2021
Trelither is a beautiful property in a great location with easy access to beaches and the town . There is nothing this property didn’t have , well done Aspects and the owners .
Mrs Brace Sep 2021
We loved this cottage very much it was very central to all the beaches the shops and restaurants and we loved the fact it was near the Island Carpark too! (Got lucky this time and got the last space on our arrival) We will book this place again for sure. The upstairs room was ideal for our teenage daughter to have her own space and had its own en-suite. Beds super comfy decor is beautiful. Kitchen nice and airy nice big table for family meals and it had everything we needed. Loved the fact it had outside drying space too. We will be back to this one :-)
Mrs Cain Sep 2021
What a gem of a property. Great use of space and thought of everything. There was a bonus of a rear courtyard that I wasn’t expecting to keep you bucket and spade with lovely evening sun. I would highly recommend.
Mrs Ferguson Jun 2021
Lovely few days .. tasteful decor , well equipped kitchen and fab location .. will definitely return !
Mrs Walker May 2021
This old fisherman's cottage in the heart of St Ives is perfect very well equipment and beautifully decorated. The stairs are narrow upto the bedrooms and as mentioned in the description the ensuite shower room is a little low so not a good room to have if you over 6ft but it was all perfect for us.
The location couldn't have been more perfect right in the centre with a very short walk to the harbour and beaches.
We loved this place and will look to book again next time we go to St Ives.
Mrs Pearce May 2021
Very smartly presented and well-equipped house at the centre of it all. We liked the decorations and the easy unloading. We were fortunate to get parked at the Island public car park very nearby.
Mr Staunton Apr 2021
This is a really beautiful house, fantastically equipped and in a great location. Couldn’t have asked for more.
