Shopping in St Ives
From books to jewellery to freshly made food, shopping in St Ives is a Cornish tradition thanks to the cobbled streets and independent shops that line them.
White Cove is located in one of the most sought after areas in St Ives, literally just a few paces away from Porthgwidden beach and benefits from some lovely views. As well as this, the property is pet-friendly, and with The Island and Porthmeor beach next door and year-round dog walking beach Bamaluz close by, walks with your pooch will be perfect all year round. The property inside is bright with a modern finish, and provides a lovely space for families or couples to enjoy their holiday.
With the beach as your back garden, what's not to love! You can stroll along most beaches during dog-friendly periods. White Cove also has a lovely snug area at the top of the house to cosy down and read a good book and a handy bench to the front of the property to sit with your cuppa in the mornings and soak in that sea air! You are also only a few minutes walk from the harbour, where you can catch a pint in the sun at The Sloop and take your pick of the lovely cafes and restaurants around the town.
two steps from street level into the hallway, doors leading to:
double bed, small en suite, shower (restricted headroom) WC, basin.
twin beds, hanging pegs. Stairs from hallway leading to first floor:
fridge/freezer, gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine, Nespresso machine, two sofas, TV/DVD, Bluetooth music system, sea views; steep stairs leading to the snug.
large armchair, Velux windows, sea views.
bath with hand held shower attachment, WC, basin.
shared courtyard area, travel cot provided (please bring own linen for this), high chair provided, gas central heating, the stairs leading to the snug room are very steep, care must be taken at all times and children must be accompanied when in the sitting room or snug. Dog bed, blanket and bowls provided. WiFi, one dog welcome, short breaks available.
As always we had a great week, the house is perfectly positioned for the town and all of the beaches, and the view from the lounge is beautiful. Being able to park outside to unpack our luggage was really helpful before parking at the rugby club for the week. We’ll definitely return.

This is a lovely property - space has been well thought out with the added extra sofa on the mezzanine level. We took the binoculars with us and we saw dolphins from the living room or the mezzanine window most days. The location is perfect, being right next to the Island and Porthgwidden beach. The dog bed/bowls and the Christmas decorations were a great addition.

We are so pleased to hear you had a great stay at White Cove, and that you enjoyed those fantastic sea views and much sought-after location. White Cove sleeps 4 people comfortably, offering one double room and one twin room, so it's great you found it roomy for your party of two. Katy, Customer Services.

White Cove is in a fantastic location and it is a beautiful property. Perfect for a couple or small family. Unfortunately it was let down by worn and uncomfortable soft furnishings. The sofas are not as pictured. The arms and other parts are very worn and visible due to arm covers and throws used to hide this continually slipping off. It wasn't the same standard of furnishing we've had in other Aspects properties we've stayed in which was a shame is the location is brilliant and the general appearance of the property is lovely.

Thank you for your comments; we are glad to hear you enjoyed the location and found the property to be beautiful - we quite agree! We appreciate you getting in touch during your stay to let us know about the furnishings, and please be assured that we will be addressing the points raised with the property owner and their housekeeper. We look forward to being able to welcome you back for your next booking very soon. Phoebe, Customer Services

This was our 2nd stay at white cove. We love the location and the view. The flat had everything we need. Magnificent!
Mrs HIGGS Nov 2023
White Cove is the perfect destination. What's not to like about gazing out of the window to the sea or walking around The Island? We have visited White Cover many times and love love love it!
Mrs Everest Oct 2023
The location was superb, and whilst some of the reviews mentioned it could be a noisy location, we found that this was not the case (and we visited in mid-August in excellent weather - when you might expect it to be the noisiest time of year).
The property is really light, has great views, is very comfortable and well equipped - we would definitely book this again. Also the WiFi was excellent which is not always the case in St Ives properties.
Mr Dawson Sep 2023
We had a lovely time at White Cove, it was great being so near to the beach, and being able to sit in the lounge and look out to sea was amazing.
Mrs Peralta Aug 2023
Beautiful location, lovely sea view.
Dr Hughes Aug 2023
Lovely location, property is getting a little tired but the view wins every time.

Those views are pretty great, aren't they?! Whilst White Cove is not marketed as one of our higher end/modern properties, it should always be well maintained, so we will certainly check on that on the next inspection. After such a long, busy season it may just be due a re-fresh to some areas, so please rest assured that your feedback, and comments from our inspection will all be passed on to the property owners. Thank you for the helpful comments and we hope to see you back soon. Katy, Customer Services.
We enjoyed our stay at White Cove and would recommend to others .It was located on entrance to dog friendly porthgwiddian beach and an easy stroll to other beaches and the harbour . White cove provided all facilities we needed. Overall alittle more attention to cleanliness would make this property superb . We parked in the Island car park. We only left the space one afternoon to visit other places and managed to get a space after 6 pm . Most times we observed there were no free spaces .

We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your time here, though sorry to hear if there were areas that were not as clean as they should be. Your feedback has been passed on to the property owner and their housekeeper, and we will keep an eye on further feedback to see if we need to add any additional checks in there. Thanks for letting us know. The Island car park is probably one of the most in demand in the town, so you can't ever guarantee a space there. If you are ever looking to return, please feel free to speak to the team for any advice on back up options for parking. Tanya, Customer Services
Possibly having a reserved car parking space somewhere would make the property 10/10
Mrs Darbyshire Jun 2023
White cove is a gem , such a light warm property in a great location . Having stayed in lots of properties in St Ives this is by far the best . The views , the sunrises and sunsets not to mention the seals and dolphins . Take your binoculars they are a must . New carpets downstairs where lovely some of the bedroom furniture could be replaced but only to make it all as good as upstairs. We will be back .
Mrs Elrick Jan 2023
We stayed Christmas and New Year at White Cove. The location is ideal just a quick 20 or 30 steps to the beach which was great with our dog. The property itself was looking tired in places with the bedroom carpets having seen better days coupled with handles missing from furniture which let the place down. Kitchen was fully equipped and allowed us to cook a full Christmas dinner with all the trimmings without any difficulties. However, the freezer was frosted up and desperately needed a defrost to be able to use it. The views from the living room are fantastic and allowed us to watch boats and dolphins in the bay. Note to point out that the walls on either side of the property are really thin and conversations can be heard easily from both sides.

Thank you for your comments following your Christmas break at White Cove, a great base to return to after a long day exploring the beaches of St Ives during this wonderful time of year. Having these great beaches on your doorstep does mean you may occasionally hear some of the hustle and bustle of the town while in the property, but we hope you agree that this is totally worth it. We are sorry to hear that you felt the property was looking tired at the time of your visit. We always try to ensure that the photos and descriptions are accurate, so we do hope that this was what you had expected. Your comments are automatically sent on to the property owners, so that they can consider any suggestions for future improvements, and we will make sure that your points such as the missing furniture handles, and frosted freezer are followed up on. Katy, Customer Services.
Great location and lovely views but limited kitchen equipment.
Mrs Pollock Nov 2022
Our first time at White Cove and we had the best time, lovely view and perfect location for all beaches would definitely recommend and can’t wait to stay again
Mrs. Newman Nov 2022
To spend a week at White Cove is like wearing a pair of cosy slippers and being enveloped in a warmth we will remember forever, especially;y as it was our golden wedding anniversary while there. The house and the view are perfect in any kind of weather although this year the sun shone most days and the week sped by far too quickly. We look forward to 2023 and out next visit to this wonderful property.
Mrs Everest Oct 2022
White coat was everything we expected a more, Beautiful surroundings and a wonderful stay would highly recommend.
Mrs Meek Aug 2022
Wonderful location so close to the beach.
Dr Hughes Aug 2022
We loved our wk. at white cove, found a few minor niggles but nothing to put us off our holiday, we have mentioned to aspects and I’m sure they will be resolved. Either way, we would definitely book this property again.
As others have mentioned the en-suite shower is very small I fit in at 5ft 3 but my partner couldn’t use it, there is a bath with shower head upstairs so he used that and prefers baths anyway so wasn’t a problem.
If you are looking for a quiet location this property wouldn’t be for you, it’s close proximity to the cafe and beach mean it’s quite noisy with daily deliveries, bins being emptied and people using the public toilets across the way. We were not bothered by it and enjoyed listening to the live bands playing at the weddings over at porthgwidden cafe. Didn’t want to leave, hoping to see you next year White Cove.

We are glad that you enjoyed this lovely property. The location is superb and the envy of many, but that can come with some associated noise, being such a popular area and with the café and facilities nearby. We hope that you agreed that it is a very small price to pay for those lovely views and being just steps away from Porthgwidden beach. We hope that the restricted headroom in the ensuite was what you had expected. We try to show this as best as possible in the photos and mention it in the description so that guests can make an informed decision on its suitability. It is always tough to tear yourself away from somewhere that you have enjoyed so much, but hopefully we will see you back here again soon. Tanya, Customer Services
Lovely property in a handy location for those that love the beach x
Mrs Ferguson Jun 2022
Great location and wonderful views
Mrs Shires May 2022
We visit St Ives most years and always book through Aspects as always happy with their properties. White Cove was one of the more modern properties we have stayed in, very comfortable and in an excellent location. Stairs may be an issue for people with young children, elderly or older dogs as living area is upstairs to make the most of the wonderful sea views. Not a problem for us though, we loved our stay and will be rebooking this property if dates are available.
Mrs Roberts May 2022
Fantastic location for anytime of day walks with your dog, on all of the beaches at St Ives.
Mrs Shipley Apr 2022
We stayed March 2022. We loved White Cove, perfect location, stunning views and very well equipped. Would definitely recommend and will be booking again.
Mr Williams Mar 2022
Great week at this place before Christmas, the house had Christmas decorations up which was lovely. Nice warm and cosy place when returning after a windy walk on the beach. Enjoyed watching surfers from lounge window, even managed to spot a seal (I did have binoculars) Close to beaches, car park and a nice stroll to harbour and shops. We will definitely be returning. Loved it!!
Mrs Dunne Dec 2021
The location of this property is excellent! The views from the living room and snug are great too. Compact but has everything that you should need.
Miss Dunn Oct 2021
Enjoyable holiday in a beautiful location with fantastic breath taking views from the property. Would come back an stay again. A step away to the beach, a few minutes walk away to shops and restaurant’s- everything you need was on your door step.
Mrs O`Brien Jul 2021
Great properly overall, stunning view and location was footsteps from Porthgwidden beach. Very well equipped, the only thing which I didn’t enjoy so much was the memory foam double bed as it seemed to make you so hot and was very soft but it depends what you like I guess. Overall a wonderful place to stay, would stay again.
Miss Otter Jul 2021
White Cove is a large well decorated home very close to The Island Carpark and multiple beaches. Set over 3 floors, this can easily sleep 6. Great views and very spacious for the family. The bathroom on the first floor was ideal however the shower ensuite may not be suitable for anyone over 6ft due to the height of the shower head, good use of space but it felt rather cramped. It should also be noted, the locality of White Cove is at the top of a popular beach slipway, you may hear conversations in the evening along with the bins being emptied late at night and early in the morning for the beach cafe which is a mere stones throw away. Overall, lovely house and would stay again.

Being so close to the beaches and all facilities within the town, as well as the benefit of avoiding all the hills of St Ives, you may hear noise associated with being in such an amazing location, but we hope that you agreed it is completely worth it for such a great spot. The shower height may be a bit tricky for some, so we try to make this as clear as possible within the photos and description, and hope that this was what you had expected. It certainly sounds like you enjoyed your time here; hopefully we will see you back again soon. Tanya, Customer Services
The location is excellent being only 50 metres from the beach. Beach cafe/restaurant serves lovely food with beautiful views. There wasn't any noise from it, as mentioned in earlier posts so no need to be concerned about that. The 'hub-hub of the main area of St Ives is a few mins away so everything is on the doorstep but it is very quiet near the property in the evenings.
Mrs Marshall May 2021
What a lovely week spent at White Cove. Perfect for us as a couple and teenage son. Our Labrador loved it and once he'd worked out the stairs (not allowed up stairs at home) he was very comfortable. There were two dog bowls and a blanket provided but we had taken our own blankets as he was moulting. Great use of space with the kitchen and table, compact but certainly felt bright and airy. The shower in the en-suite is actually under the stairs - not a problem for me at 5'4" but any taller people may need to use the shower over the bath in the main bathroom. Beds were comfy and linen clean and fresh. Really enjoyed our week and hope to visit again soon.
Mrs Pincher May 2021
White cove was a great property. We loved our stay.
Mrs HIGGS Apr 2021
This is a lovely cottage and a delight to retreat to in this most unusual of years. Our two weeks went far too quickly and we look forward to next year's visit. As usual part of the holiday was spent finishing a novel to submit to my publisher and this year we also celebrated a book release as well. What better way to work than looking out to sea on a sunny day!
Mrs Everest Nov 2020
Exceeded our expectations, fantastic location, beautiful property with great views! Would stay again in a heart beat.
Miss Otter Sep 2020
We have just stayed at White Cove and found it exceptional! It was very clean, spacious, modern, well equipped and dog friendly! The location is perfect and we would definitely stay here again! Claire Collins, August 20
Mrs Collins Sep 2020
Lovely location , so close to the beach so ideal for children or dogs . Stairs not suitable for young children so maybe child gates would be good . En suite is very small and shower not suitable for anyone tall . View is lovely !

The location certainly is lovely; we are glad that you liked it. If you would ever require stair gates and these are not provided at a property, please just let us know and we can see if we have any in storage, if not we can put you in contact with a hire company that can supply them. If you are tall, the shower height and overall cubicle size is certainly something to consider. We try to make this as clear as possible within the photos and description, so we hope that this was what you had expected. Thank you for your helpful comments and we hope to see you again. This cottage ticked all the boxes for our stay and we have immediately rebooked there.
Mr McShane Jan 2020
Fantastic place to stay. Aspects were very helpful start to end. Great layout and design and perfect for a dog - ours loved it. Will look forward to returning :)
Miss Jackson Oct 2019
Again we had a wonderful week at White Cove. Either relaxing and looking at the view or heading out for a walk White Cove is perfectly situated for our holiday. Henry, the dog loves the cottage too.
Mrs Everest Oct 2019
Beautiful property with outstanding views and close to all amenities
Mrs Jeens May 2019
We always look forward to visiting White Cove for a relaxing holiday with sea views. As always I had to work on a book but it is a joy to work in such a lovely place. Henry (our dog) loves White Cove!
Mrs Everest Apr 2019
We look forward to our visits to Downalong, St Ives each year and to White Cove in particular. The property is clean, welcoming and perfect for us. I've had to work during several visits and have completed two novels whilst staying at White Cove. The perfect property for a writer!
Mrs Everest Oct 2018
Loved it! A real holiday ‘home’, clean, comfortable and everything you need in a fantastic location.
Mrs Kilvert Aug 2018
My hope is to buy my own property on Downalong. Aspect are ideally suited to have a section on their website for such sales. Just a suggestion ... !
Mrs Everest Mar 2018
Lovely cottage! Its all about location, location, location and this one has it!
Mr Barton Feb 2018
Fantastic Location with superb sea views. Modern and well equipped and benefit of being pet friendly.
Mr Tonks Jan 2018
Beautiful cottage in just about the best location in St Ives! Falling out of the door in the morning for breakfast in Porthgwidden Café was a highlight!
Mrs Ibbott Oct 2017
Our stay was relaxing and enjoyable in White Cove. Ideal for our dog, Henry, as well! Wifi was good which was perfect for this author! We will return.
Mrs Everest Oct 2017
This cottage is ideal for a family with older children as its location is superb. The steep stairs, I would suggest is not suited for toddlers. The location is brilliant being 30 seconds from beach but this brings its downside as the Porthgwidden bistro can be noisy at night. If you want a quiet get away White Cove if not for you but if you want a property that is at the heart of the beach in the day as well as a social hub at night then White Cove is for you
Mr Reid Aug 2017

Thank you for your helpful comments. Any property within the heart of St Ives will be prone to hearing the hustle and bustle of the town, but for many this is far outweighed by the convenience and ambience of being in the heart of it all, just a short stroll to all the stunning beaches in the town, the restaurants, cafes, unique shops and galleries. And with much of St Ives being hilly, it also has the benefit of being a level walk to all of these great places. We are glad that it worked well for you, it certainly sounds like you enjoyed the property and St Ives. Hope to see you again soon. Tanya, Customer Services
We very much enjoyed 'White Cove'. It was a wonderful location - very convenient for body boarding and then getting warm quickly!
The decor was lovely - very bright and fresh.
It was well equipped and with excellent instructions/information given about the equipment in the house.
Mr Williams Aug 2017
One of the best properties we have stayed in when we have visited St Ives!
