Aspects Holidays takes on Via Ferrata's new Zip Wire Safari

From water-skiing and surfing to off-road cycling and go-karting, Cornwall’s ever-expanding offering of epic days out is the perfect way to add some adrenaline to your stay. The newest craze? Taking to the skies for Via Ferrata’s uber-exhilarating Zip Wire Safari.

Step aside regular one-trip zip wires, this exhilarating course is a triple threat, with three increasingly exciting zip lines banding together to create a one-hour long adventure around Via Ferrata’s historic quarry.

The Zip Wire Safari is an instructor-free activity, which you can enjoy with friends and family (children between the ages of 10 and 14 need to be accompanied by an adult). But not to worry, we were given an in-depth safety brief at the start of our visit, which left us feeling ready and uber-prepared for our high-flying fun.

The first zip wire was an easy-going ride, with a gentle slope down to a welcoming landing zone, providing a relaxed start to the adventure. Things were quickly kicked up a notch, however, as we made our way to the second line. Short but enviably fast, this second leap of faith is definitely one for the adrenaline junkies.

The third and final zip wire was quick to plaster an exhilarated smile on our faces as we flew through the air towards the cliff and wooden landing platform on the opposite side. While not as fast as the second zip line, the lofty views afforded by the final wire were unbeatable and our new favourite way to tour Cornwall.

With all three zip wires under our carabiner-lined belts, we had the exciting choice of how to continue our hair-raising journey through the safari. If you’re quick, you can squeeze in another few rounds of the fun-filled course, with the option of switching wires if you fancy a slightly different experience the second time round.

With the course done, dusted, and thoroughly enjoyed, it was time to unwind in the cosy café that overlooks the course – making it ideal for parents who want to watch the kids enjoy the overhead safari. Serving up a tasty array of coffees, cakes, and sandwiches, we were soon recounting our adrenaline-filled experiences over a brew.
