Argel Lowen means 'happy retreat' in Cornish. This apartment is set overlooking Mevagissey harbour and the bay beyond, with fantastic views from the open plan living area where guests can sit back and enjoy lazy days watching the boats come and go. With two spacious bedrooms, there's room for the whole family or plenty of flexibility for groups of friends to enjoy a relaxing trip to the Cornish coast. The interior has been decorated and furnished in a contemporary style with white walls and large windows helping to emphasise the sense of space. The house has a laid-back beachy feel with comfy sofa to sit back and relax on after a walk along the coast and with sliding doors drawing you towards the view over the sea. The property also comes with its very own patio and balcony, perfect for that morning cuppa!

As well as the village itself having everything from a museum and aquarium, a boat trip can transport you to the close by town of Fowey and you can try your hand at catching your own dinner with a fishing trip from the harbour, Or you can simply enjoy South West Coastal walks on your doorstep, heading out towards Hemick beach while watching the sunset.

Superb location at the top of Polkirt Hill, including it's own parking space which was a real bonus. The apartment is spacious and light with a modern feel and plenty of amenities - the welcome gift of tea, coffee and Cornish biscuits was much appreciated on arrival. The views across Mevagissey harbour were wonderful in all weathers, having the little balcony to enjoy on warm evenings made it even better. The coast path was literally on the doorstep which gave access to the harbour below without having to walk on the road - do be prepared for lots of steps and a steep climb! So many interesting little shops in Mevagissey itself and plenty of places to eat. It's very clean, probably because there aren't too many litter bins for gulls to pick through, so we tended to take rubbish home with us. Good options for interesting trips from the harbour, you can take a ferry boat to Fowey, go mackerel fishing, visit seal island or just go on a tour of the nearby coast. We had such a lovely week here and wished we could have made it two!

Holidays in Mevagissey

Stay in Mevagissey and you’ll be perfectly placed to explore all that the south coast of Cornwall has to offer. Take a ferry trip to Fowey, visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan or spend a day at the beach at the nearby Pentewan Sands.

Best known for its harbour and fishing boats, Mevagissey still boasts as being part of Cornwall’s thriving fishing industry. Fresh fish can even be bought from the hut on the harbour wall, located a short stroll from the village aquarium, once the lifeboat station. Wander around the harbour area, with its narrow streets, fascinating shops and galleries and recall its smuggling history, or just relax in the bars and restaurants and coves and on nearby beaches.

There is a ferry boat which runs from end of April to beginning of October from Mevagissey to Fowey three or four times a day (don’t miss the return journey!) – journey time about 35 minutes. You may be lucky and spot some playful dolphins!

Argel lowen is a much loved holiday choice for us. It is a very lovely apartment it is light and bright extremely comfortable ( the beds and couch are very comfortable) it is clean and more than adequately equipped with household needs. From the balcony it is possible to look over the harbour and the wonderful views beyond and there is also a garden at the back a sun trap perfect for outdoor eating and drinking in a peaceful environment. There are many places to eat out or takeaway in Mevagissey and Portmellon is within walking distance. Aspects holidays were at our disposal for any hiccups happily we had none. We had a fantastic holiday Cornwall has so much to offer and after a full day sightseeing we could look forward to the ideal place to relax refresh and get ready to experience the pubs and restaurants in the town. (Always best to book in advance). We especially liked the kings arms, the Ship and the Fountain.

The apartment was very comfortable and had a super view of the harbour. It is a few minutes walk into town, the harbour and many lovely shops and eateries.

We’ve just spent a wonderful week in Argel Lowen. The apartment was both comfortable and homely and the supplies that were left were much appreciated. A boiler problem that we encountered on arrival was dealt with quickly and efficiently by the Aspect Holiday staff and maintenance team. The equipment supplied was more than adequate to cope with most holiday cooking. The location was excellent with great views over the harbour and direct access to paths leading to the harbour or village. The drive through the village to reach the property was a great test of nerves with an element of excitement thrown in!! We would have no problem recommending the property to anyone.

Lovely apartment, not for the faint hearted as strenuous climb from town and also stairs to apartment

Thank you for your review following your stay at Argel Lowen. The property is set overlooking the Mevagissey Harbour, which means that while there are stunning views, there are several external and internal steps up to the apartment. We try to make this as clear as possible on the website, as it may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. We hope you agree that those spectacular views make the climb worth it!
