Holidays in Mousehole

Mousehole is an idyllic village and fishing port with quaint cobbled streets full of bistros and art-galleries. Sit on the harbour and admire views of St Michael’s Mount or take a short drive to nearby Marazion to walk along the golden sands.

Mousehole is a great community with a fantastic atmosphere, and self catering in Mousehole is effortless. Enjoy harbour views and artisan foods at Mousehole Deli & kitchen, afternoon tea at the Tremayne Tea Room or sit down for an evening meal at 2 Fore Street, a French bistro-style restaurant on Mousehole harbour front. Finish off your evening with a pint of local ale at the Ship Inn, one of the famous St Austell Brewery establishments. For more info, read our blog post on Eating out in Mousehole.

Top tip

Visit at Christmas and experience the magical Mousehole Lights display!

Things to do in Mousehole

Mousehole is best when entered on foot, or bus, or bike. Cars are not the way to see Mousehole and best left outside. If you have to bring a car, there’s a big car park on the Penzance side of the village, close to The Old Coastguard Hotel.

Christmas lights

Mousehole has celebrated Christmas with beautiful lights for 40 years! The village is a winter wonderland in the dark nights and grey seas of winter. Many villages have light shows today but Mousehole is special. Holiday cottages overlooking the harbour always enjoy an extra special Cornish Christmas. Read more on our blog about Mousehole lights.

Walks around Mousehole

For those who are not so content with staying in their holiday homes, the walks around Mousehole are a joy all year round.  There are some fabulous circular walks but we think there's something particularly satisfying about catching a bus from Mousehole and walking back in (especially if your walk exits the village in a north of westerly direction; you'll soon discover the town is nestled at the bottom of a very steep hill!)  Read our blog on Mousehole Walks.

Coasteering in Mousehole

If you're seeking adrenaline and adventure, check out Coasteering Adventures.

Mousehole is one of Cornwall’s top Coasteering destinations. Nestled in the shelter of Mounts Bay, Mousehole offers multiple coasteering routes for all ages and abilities. Coasteering Adventures are thrilled to be the exclusive provider of coasteering from this location. Book an adventure and you will experience cliff jumping, sea swimming, climbing, bouldering, exploring caves and floating through gullies. With each session tailored to the group, you can choose the level that you are comfortable with.

Dating back to the 13th century Mousehole has a rich history tying it to the sea. 1595 saw all but 1 house (which still stands today) burned to the ground by the Spanish armada. 100 Years later Mousehole became a haven for the ‘Barbary Pirates’ with a number of caves on the route being where their treasure was hidden. During the 1800’s Mousehole settled into a thriving fishing village and you’ll regularly see the small fishing boats from Mousehole pass our groups whilst out on route.

A brief history of Mousehole

Today Mousehole is beautiful and welcoming holiday destination This popular holiday destination has seen more than its fair share of hardtimes tragedy over the years.

The Quay was built in 1392, holding the harbour like a pair of protective arms. Fishing was always important to Mousehole. These days there are fewer boats fishing from the village but there is an active fishing fleet operating out of nearby Newlyn, a town worth a visit on its own account. Tom Bawcock's Eve, Mousehole

Every year, the people of Mousehole celebrate the bravery of Tom Bawcock. Years ago, when the boats couldn't get out in the storms, the villages had no fish to eat. Tom dared to take his boat out and returned with enough fish to make a Star Gazey fish pie for the whole village.

Excellent, as described.

We've just returned from our 3rd stay at Resoon and feel totally relaxed and chilled out!

Resoon is such a wonderful, warm and welcoming house - it feels like home! The house feels like a family house and not a holiday let, and its set in such a wonderful position looking out over the sea towards Penzance etc.

We spend hours just sitting watching the world go by, or going on long walks via Penance, Lamorna Cove etc - all whilst leaving our car parked under the garden!

Its an amazing house which we are lucky to stay at every year - we have already booked for 2025 for our 4th stay, and the countdown to returning has already started!

Resoon is a gem and one of the best houses we have stayed at in Cornwall and we can't wait to start packing to come back again next year!!

Second visit to Resoon and as on our first had a fantastic holiday. The views from the property are amazing and the comfort of this house made for a relaxing holiday. We didn’t want to leave. Thank you to Aspects and the owners for another great holiday :)

Second time of staying at Resoon. Location and views fantastic. We had great weather and great time. We found super pub St Buryan Inn which has great menu and not over priced and caters for all family. Only 4 and half miles from cottage. Will certainly return.

This is are fourth stay at Resoon and as always everyone including the dogs had a fabulous time. The cottage itself is a home from home and one feels instantly relaxed on arrival, who wouldn’t with those views. Thank you again Resoon and see you again very soon..

Just returned from a fabulous week at Resoon. Spectacular views and a great location to watch the world go by. Lovely welcome pack and a bonus that the house is dog friendly. Cannot fault it at all and looking forward to rebooking later in the year!

This was our second visit to Resoon. The position of the property is amazing! What a view! We loved watching the trawlers, gig rowers, kayaks and even paddle boarders, all from the sitting room window. The house is situated where Mousehole, Newlyn and Penzance are all easily accessed. The weather wasn't the best and yet we really enjoyed our holiday knowing we had such a lovely property to return to. We would like to thank the owners for a wonderful welcome pack and fresh flowers. It's not often that we experience such generosity and kindness. We would also like to thank Aspects for the ease of booking and excellent service.

Had a fantastic stay in Resoon over New year. Property is very well kept and looked after and the sea views are amazing. Easy accessible walk into Mousehole (approx 15 mins) and opposite way to Newlyn. Steep approach to property and no direct dog walks out of house, you have to go and find a coastal path or public pathway which takes some walking to get to, however, in car, plenty of dog friendly beaches not too far away and a secure garden for dogs to use at property. Good local bus service near enough outside house too.

  • We love that you enjoyed your stay so much and the wonderful sea views and are just something else. There are some steps to take on before you can enter the property but for that view, I hope you can agree it's worth it. Lovely to hear you were able to make the most of the busses to explore the area further and find plenty of exciting walks to take - I'm sure your four-legged friend was very grateful. We look forward to welcoming you back soon! Phoebe, Customer Service

This is are third stay at Resoon and as always the property is comfortable and inviting. The views never fail to captivate you. Everyone had a wonderfully relaxing holiday including the dogs who both love the garden.

Very nice house in super location. Very comfortable. Nice garden although quite a few steps

Super views from lounge, bedrooms and garden. Easily accessible to Mousehole, Newlyn and Penzance.

We have already booked for a return visit.

Another great holiday at Resoon; we love everything about this house; the location is brilliant for relaxing and people watching, and its great to be able to walk to and explore Penzance, Newlyn and Mousehole. The view from the lounge window is amazing and takes your breath away when you see it, even for the 2nd time! The house is very warm and friendly and it feels just like a home instead of a holiday home, so is perfect for relaxing and chilling out! We love Resoon so much that it has now become our "go to" holiday and we will be back....for a 3rd time...next year and can't wait!

We had an absolutely fabulous stay at Resoon. The property for us was perfect, well equipped and the layout inside and out is well thought out. The view from the property is mesmerising and seeing the seals and dolphins a real treat. We didn’t want to leave.

First stay at Resoon, we treated ourselves this year in Cornwall and although lovely, there were a few flaws which I hope the owners can address.

The house is a lovely generous size with good size bedrooms and bathrooms, nice modern fittings, several televisions and a useful utility room. The views are wonderful and i recommend sitting outside the front at night under the stars listening to the waves.

(note for the owners: some double glazing units are blown impacting views, we couldn't use the outside dining set as chairs were broken (a new set arrived the day before we left); the coffee machine leaked; broken glass in the garden, no wardrobe in the main bedroom - just a hook on the wall for 5 hangers. These may seem minor but when you are paying £2300 a week to stay, it needs to be better)

We enjoyed our stay there, it had lovely comfortable beds, big sofa, fluffy towels and amazing views. The parking was easy and it offers a great location to walk to Mousehole or Newlyn (hire a Beryl bike!) We would definitely recommend going - just hope the little things are ironed out.

p.s. it is a sharp steep incline to walk up to the house so quite a pull when unloading the car.

Thank you for taking the time to send in your feedback, and we are really sorry that we were not aware of these issues before your arrival, so that we could have spoken to the property owner beforehand and had them rectified before your arrival. The team worked with the owner to get the new outside furniture there as quickly as possible and were liaising with the owner about the coffee machine, supplying a cafetiere in the interim. We have passed on your feedback about the blown glass and your suggestion of a wardrobe in the main bedroom. We have tried to show as clearly as possible, what furniture is provided in each room, so that guests can make an informed decision, so we are sorry if this was not what you had expected. Thanks again for the helpful feedback and we do hope that you still enjoyed your time there despite these points. Tanya Customer Services

Lovely house with amazing views across to St Michels Mount. Great location with easy walk (or bus) to Newlyn or Mousehole.

Aspects was very accommodating and helpful throughout the rental process and when we stayed. Their response to any call was exceptional. Reason is a lovely home with an incredible view. We had a very nice stay and enjoyed the area tremendously. Anyone with mobility problems should be aware that it is difficult to get from the car to the house. Steep incline and uneven paving. Otherwise, I can’t imagine not having a wonderful time at Resoon.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are glad to hear how much you enjoyed your time at Resoon. It is lovely there isn't it? I could happily sit and stare at those views all day long! Being perched in the position that it is, really making the most of those incredible views, you do have some steps to contend with to get to the property. We try to give an idea of this in the photos, so do hope that it was what you expected and that they were not a problem for you. Thanks for your helpful comments and we hope to see you here again soon. Tanya, Customer Services

This is a lovely house in the most beautiful location. If you love a sea view and a stunning sunrise, this house is for you. Its walking distance (10 min) to Mousehole village which has a pub, nice restaurant and cafe. Very comfy beds and everything you need for a few friends or a family holiday.

Our second stay at resoon and once again a fabulous holiday had by all including the dogs. Will never tire of the amazing views and the comfort that the property offers. Will be back soon.

Beautiful spacious home from home with the most spectacular views

We loved our week spent at Resoon. It is a warm and comfortable property with amazing sea views. It was brilliant to go to sleep and wake up listening to the sea. The property is situated within easy distance of popular destinations such as Mousehole, Newlyn, Penzance and Marazion. Another added bonus is that there is parking for up to two vehicles We would like to thank the owners for a wonderful welcome pack. Also, a big thank you to Aspects for excellent service.

House is in a fabulous location with incredible views. Four spacious bedrooms and well equipped kitchen. If the weather is good there are lots of options for sitting outdoors

Had a fabulous holiday at Resoon. The property was all we could have asked for and more, it was comfortable like a home from home and the views were amazing. The whole family including the dogs had a wonderful time.

Resoon is a lovely, warm and welcoming house that feels more like a family home than a holiday home. We loved the outside areas which were great for people watching and watching all the ships and activities on the sea. The view from the front of the house is amazing and we loved being able to see Penzance and Marazion from all the views; the views at night were stunning. The location is brilliant; not only do you have the view to sit and watch, but its also within easy walking distance of Newlyn, Penzance and Mousehole. It was also great to be able to park your car off the road and in the garage; a real selling point for a stay in Cornwall. We loved the house and Mousehole and will be returning next year!

Resoon is a lovely place to stay, everything is set up to allow you to make the most of the amazing view, we saw dolphins from the living room. The property has everything you could need, and we will definitely come back. The welcoming treats were a nice surprise.

We had a lovely week in this spacious, well planned and beautifully situated house. We really appreciated the range of treats left by the owners and would love to stay here again in the future. Also reassuring to see a house still in the same family’s hands after many years.

Lovely views and good to have off street parking. Good size for a large group. A few steep steps up to the property from the road and a bit of a long walk from the village centre for anyone who is not so fit!

Resoon was in a fabulous location Mouse hole and Newlyn just a short walk away The house was well equipped and in a very good order Would definitely return

Just returned after a wonderful week at Resoon. Three generations and two dogs the house was perfect. Resoon was immaculate, the beds were comfortable and we had everything we could possibly need for a family holiday. The fixtures, fittings and furniture were all good qaulity . On arrival we has been left some lovely gifts.Tea,coffee, biscuits, fresh flowers and a bottle of 'fizz'.A lovely touch and appreciated. Last but not least that VIEW. It was stunning. Waking up to that bay and st.michaels mount was magical. We will definately return.

Beautiful house which accommodated us all for a family holiday with our son’s, partners & grandchildren. Fabulous views across the bay enjoyed by us all. House is very well equipped & well furnished. Short walk into Mousehole & can recommend 2 Fore street restaurant, Ship inn, deli & the Old Coastguard &Rock Cafe ( fabulous views out to sea). Favourite beach is Porthcurno. So many places to visit in this beautiful part of Cornwall. Would love to return & can highly recommend. Aspect holidays staff are so friendly & helpful.

Fantastically well located dog friendly house with off road parking. Well equipped and comfortable. Our visit during the first week of May was our second visit to this property - Aspect Hols were very helpful !

Resoon is in a great location, Is fully equipped and extremely comfortable - its our 2nd time staying at Resoon and won’t be our last

Really lovely house with amazing views of Mounts Bay, it was very spacious for 7 of us and well equiped, The children loved the games room. Easy walking distance to Newlyn & Mousehole. Would definitely recommend.

Top class accommodation with all facilities provided. Clean, warm, comfortable and cosy, with plenty of space inside and out. Views are exceptional, and within easy walking distance to Mousehole and Newlyn. We will without a doubt, recommend to friends and family, and hope to return in 2022. Perfect break in Cornwall, thank you to the owners and Aspects for your kindness during our stay.

We would really recommend Resoon as a place to stay and a great base to explore Cornwall from. Beautiful modern house overlooking the sea. We spent hours watching the sea either sat on the balcony, in the bedroom or watching from the living room. My children loved the area upstairs just for them complete with TV, Xbox and beanbags! Dog friendly and lots of good places to walk to from the house especially Mousehole. Spotlessly clean and the quality of the fixtures and fittings was great. We would book this property again!

We had an excellent stay at Resoon this September. The views from the property are exceptional and the walk into Mousehole and Newlyn to visit the many nice restaurants was very easy. Overall the property is well maintained, stocked with all essential equipment and very comfortable.

Wonderful stay at Resoon! Perfect location and idyllic views across the bay. We hope to return very soon!

We loved waking up to the fabulous views & as we were lucky enough to have good weather, always looked forward to eating our breakfast outside each morning watching the boats passing by. The house was light & airy & very tastefully decorated. It was in a perfect location to get to all the places we wanted to go to and in walking distance of both Newlyn & Mousehole. We didn’t want to leave!!! We’ll be back soon

Great house in a stunning location. The house was exactly as shown and described and the ease of booking made the process reassuring

Beautiful house with awesome views. Lovely quiet location with off road parking. I would definitely stay here again ??

Great location and house decorated tastefully too . What wonderful views. A perfect base .

Stunning property in a fabulous location. The house itself is beautiful - top quality furnishings, great decor and views that are out of this world. The beds were so comfy and we loved the amount of space and light. The walk into Mousehole was an easy 10 minute stroll and we enjoyed the harbour and its selection of eateries. We'll definitely return in the future.

A fantastic property - we have rented more than 20 properties in Mousehole over the years, and this one was the best by far - so much so that we have already booked for next year! If you are hesitating - don't! You can't beat the views and the beautiful coastal walk to either Mousehole or Newlyn.

Very clean and comfortable accommodation with great views. Easy walk into Mousehole and Newlyn for shops, pubs and restaurants. Perfect!

Great escape pad. Plenty of room and well furnished. The beds were comfortable and the house was very well insulated should you happen to be there during a stormy November, for example... Stunning, uninterrupted views across the Bay from the lounge and 3 of the bedrooms. Great location and Mousehole and Newlyn are easily walkable from the property. National cycle track #3 on the doorstep giving a very safe cycle ride along the coast through to Marazion Great size kitchen in which to have breakfast and plan the day ahead. It was well stocked with all the utensils and equipment you need. 1 parking space for large car and a free lay-by directly opposite if needed. Would definitely recommend for small or larger group.

Our party of 4 had a great week despite the weather being wet and gusty at times. The house was well placed for walking to Mousehole or Newlyn and Penzance and short car trips to Marazion and St Just and Pendeen lighthouse. The views from Resoon are excellent and the enclosed garden was a favourite to sit in when weather allowed!

What a fantastic holiday we had at Resoon. Wonderful cottage with spectacular views, can’t wait to return.

We loved staying at Resoon. The views are absolutely stunning and the beds are so comfortable. Beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly want provided in the house. The large gardens are fully enclosed and are really well maintained with lots of seating areas. Particularly enjoyed sitting out on the balcony with a glass of wine watching the sun go down! Resoon is located within walking distance of Mousehole, which is a picturesque, quaint village with some lovely places to eat, pubs and art galleries. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Resoon and can't wait to go back again.

Absolutely fantastic house with stunning views and easy walk to both Mousehole and Newlyn. Clean, comfortable and well equipped, we had everything we needed. The garden was also beautiful and you could happily just sit and gaze at the wonderful view. We had a wonderful week and would love to come again. Would highly recommend.

We have just returned from a new year break at Resoon after admiring the property for a few years. It did not disappoint. The views are beautiful and we could chose each day to walk to Newlyn or Mousehole. The regular bus service was perfect for my elderly parents. The house is fully equipped with everything you need so couldn’t ask for more. Will definitely be back

Resoon was an absolutely ideal holiday location. We visited over the Christmas week, 7 of us and a dog. The location was perfect - equidistant between the villages of Mousehole and Newlyn, and a very short distance from Penzance. Plenty of supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and pubs. Lovely for the dog - the garden was completely secure, and plenty of places to take him for beachy walks, and dog friendly meals out. The house was well equipped and very comfortable, and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend Resoon and we intend to return.

The location and property were excellent. We had a great week and would definitely recommend Resoon. We hope to return sometime......

Cannot fault the location of this property

We had a lovely holiday at Resoon. The property was decorated to a good standard and the views from the garden and the windows was exceptional. We would not hesitate to stay in this property again.

The location of Resoon was stunning. Loved the views from all the windows, garden and balconies across to the sea. We found it hard to leave the cottage as it was so very lovely. Very thoughtfully designed and beautiful furnishings. Beds comfy, too and the snug area for kids was great. Handy for walking to Mousehole or Newlyn in the evenings, too - safe pavement rather than country lane. Loved it!!! Hope we will be lucky enough to return one day - we’d be back in a blink if it wasn’t a ten hour drive.

We really enjoyed our family stay at Resoon (8 adults). The property is spacious, modern and well equipped and located just a short walk into Mousehole or Newlyn. Being able to park 2 cars easily was a huge bonus and unusual around Mousehole. The sea view from the sitting room and three of the four bedrooms was amazing whatever the weather!

This is a superb property, in a fantastic location. Really handing to have a parking spot at the property and only a 10 minute walk into the village. The garden is fantastic and very dog friendly. The property is very well designed and equipped with everything you need and more. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Resoon and would like to return in the future.

Wonderful view but overall disappointing.

We were very sorry to hear of your dissapointment. We would always want a property to be 100% for a guests arrival and if for any reason, it is not, we would aim to rectify any areas of concern immediately. I hope that the actions taken at the time, with sending back the housekeeper, improved things for you. We hope that you still had a fantastic time here. Thank you again for getting in touch. Resoon is a wonderful family place to stay and we had the most amazing time there. The views are breathtaking and it is a perfect distance to Newlyn or mousehole harbour and a tiny drive to Penzance and all the fabulous beaches around. Aspects left a little welcome bag for my 6 year old that started her holiday off perfectly. It is a special place and we have already booked out return trip next year. Seeing the sun rise and also set from the living room was a treat for the eyes! We loved our time there!

Fabulous views of mount bay , sun rises exquisite , boats a plenty ,exciting and ever changing . The pictjurquest windows and balconies add to its beauty and provide a different aspect and elevation . The lights of an evening at Penzance are splendid and or-inspiring in the distance. A joy to behold .

We had a lovely holiday. The sea view is fantastic, making it well worth the money. I could not fault the property in any way and having parking made it even better.

Had a lovely stay here with our family... the view completely sells this property and I would definetly recommend to a larger family. Great location too:)

Stunning views of the bay and St Michael's Mount, plenty of good walks and local eateries. Good transport facilities and parking is a real bonus.

A lovely property and we never tired of the fantastic views. Very well equipped and beautifully decorated. The garden was loved by our dog. Would love to retur.

A beautiful home with incredible views and easy walk into the lovely town of Mousehole. We would definitely revisit

Resoon is in a spectacular position overlooking Mounts Bay and St Michael's Mount, while it is out of Mousehole it is only a 10 minute walk. We choose the property as many properties in Mousehole have no external areas suitable for dogs, so for a doggy friendly holiday the location was perfect for us.
