Minack Theatre
Built in to the cliff face at Porthcurno, the world famous Minack Theatre runs outdoor performances from May to September attracting many who wishing for an ‘al fresco’ theatrical experience with the most beautiful back drop of the sea and sunset. This world-renowned theatre is truly a theatre under the stars. It was built by hand by Rowena Cade and her gardener Billy Rawlings and Tom Angove. The story of how the theatre came about is a tribute to one woman’s vision. Rowena died in 1983. The theatre has undergone technical modifications to cope with the increased audience numbers. However, it is still a truly unique and magical place, with seats carved into the cliffs and a stunning backdrop and sea views. Always take hats and sunscreen for matinees; and warm clothes for the evening. Places to visit near Porthcurno

Treen
Conveniently located for cliff walking and bird watching, Treen is just a short walk away from the secluded sandy beaches of Porthcurno.

Logan Rock
Logan Rock, meaning 'balanced stone' is also closeby. This granite boulder weighing approximately 80 tonnes, could once be rocked by applying just a little pressure. The story goes that it was once dislodged in 1824 by a group of British seamen wishing to show their skill and courage. Outraged by this, the local residents insisted the rock was replaced, as it had become a local landmark. Ironically this was a much more challenging feat, taking 60 men, 7 months to complete. Logan's Rock still moves today, but with much less ease than it once did.

Dating back over 400 years, the Logan Rock Inn serves good food and beer and offers a friendly, country-pub atmosphere.

Penberth Cove
Home to a small fishing fleet, Penberth Cove is nearby and provides the perfect place to relax in a tranquil setting. Ideal for a spot of birdwatching or simply enjoying the scenery.

Lovely traditional home . Wonderful views and coast path at the end of the garden. Very comfortable spacious and well equipped . Loved the garden on the cliffs sitting watching all the boats go by. What more could you wish for.

A beautiful old house literally on the cliff top. The views our outstanding you really don’t get any better. It’s quirky and original. We love it.

Heatherlands has a wonderful faded charm. The sea views from the house and garden are simply stunning. A lovely welcome pack was provided for our arrival. There is a very well equipped kitchen, the beds are comfortable and it was a bonus to have the large utility room. It is an easy walk to the beach although anyone with mobility or breathing problems may find the walk back up the steep hill difficult. The sea at Porthcurno is crystal clear, although very cold at 13c, but we still swam every morning. There are numerous places of interest to visit within easy driving distance.

Heatherlands is the most wonderful place to stay - a little piece of heaven on earth.

Had a fantastic week away, was very stormy but it has a Beautiful view of the sea so could watch the waves crashing in,it's a lovely house and has everything you need for a special holiday, nice shop in the village and a Fantastic Pub where the food was amazing, will defenately be going back

A beautiful period property in an exceptional location. We really enjoyed our stay at Heatherlands.

I love this house. We love the views and where it is. The kitchen is well equipped. It is damp, but I think if it was cleaned properly it would make a big difference.

Thank you very much for your review. We were sorry to see that you found the property to be damp and we are disappointed to hear the cleanliness was not to the high standards that you would expect of the properties that we market. Due to its fantastic coastal location and granite construction, Heatherlands can be susceptible to the humid and/or wet conditions, which is why we detail that the property may not be suitable for those with respiratory issues within the website description. It was so great to see that overall, you loved Heatherlands and hope that you're already planning another trip here! Ben, Customer Services.

A wonderful holiday house with spectacular sea views.
Good location

We were delighted to spend a week at Heatherlands for the third time in four summers. The location and views out to sea continue to entice us back. As soon as you step outside, you have easy access to the coast path, local beaches and the Minack. There's nowhere else we would rather stay when we come to our favourite part of Cornwall.

Lovely house, wonderful location.

A very special house in an incredible location.

Fantastic location Lovely old house

Such a fantastic location. A short walk down the cliff to the nearest beach. Plenty of great walks from the front door, including on to the coast path. Amazing views of the sea. Watched a seal and gannets from the bedroom. I’d love to go again but unfortunately it’s fully booked for all other school holidays this year. If you can stay here do, it is truly amazing. You won’t find anywhere better.

We liked our stay in this unique place with its views over the sea and the experience of beeing exposed to WEATHER. We also enjoyed the privilege to reach after two footsteps the marvellous natural scenery of the South West Coast Path. And all this with a cosy and charming cottage as a base.

A really beautiful cottage in a spectacular location, on the cliff-top right next to the coastal path and a short walk to the beach and the Minack Theatre. It is very exposed, so it gets the weather pretty full-on, but we found the oil-fired central heating kept the living area and the bedrooms pretty warm, even when it was blowing a gale outside and temperatures were only a bit above zero. A very special place.

Wonderful property. Quiet and peaceful. Great views and coast path on your doorstep. Very comfortable and well equiped.

Heatherlands is a lovely spacious house in an unbeatable location. Porth Chapel is a beautiful, unspoilt beach which is only a 15 minute walk away. The views from the garden and from the bedrooms must be some of the most beautiful in Cornwall and with the coast path literally running along the side of the garden you are minutes from beautiful villages and beaches in both directions.

Beautiful old house with amazing views! They really don’t get any better! The house is comfortable and clean and has a well equipped kitchen. We love it!

We have been coming to Heatherlands for over 20 years and yet still we feel as if we have landed in paradise. The views are spectacular and enjoying a drink in the stunning garden after a day on the beach, and watching the sun go down cannot be beaten. Already booked for next year.

Excellent, would recommend, such magnificent views, very enjoyable.

If you want a really restful break, in a very quite spot, with stunning views and a beautiful beach and walks, you must give this a try.

What a great location over looking the sea we love it. Great walks and cafes in easy walking distance. Our seventh time at this cottage, we wouldn’t go anywhere else !

Heatherlands is a lovely house which has the most amazing views. Its a short walk from beaches, Minack Theatre and numerous coastal walks. The Cable Museum is well worth a visit, very interesting indeed and again only a short walk away. The house itself is very well equipped and was cosy on cold November nights. We enjoyed our morning cup of tea whilst watching the view from the bedroom and planning our day ahead. Although the sunsets were good as well, we drove to Cape Cornwall and watched the sunset there which was pretty special. There is so much to see around this area we do hope to return at some point. Thank you for the cream tea to welcome us on our arrival, a nice touch.

We all absolutely loved our stay at Heatherlands. The house was in such a fantastic location, not only for the views directly from the house but the great walks from right outside the door and the beach just 5 minutes away. The house itself was wonderful too, very cosy and fully equipped with everything you would need.

Heatherlands is a wonderful place to stay and a place you always want to return to. It is a large and comfortable house set in a stunning location. The views from the garden are fabulous and it’s a great place to have a bbq. Being right on the cliff path it is so easy to explore the area and the walk to Sennen is beautiful. There are also two lovely beaches within easy walking distance. I highly recommend it.

We were glad to be able to spend a week at Heatherlands for the second summer in a row.

In our favourite part of Cornwall, the house enjoys a location and views that can hardly be beaten.

We've particularly appreciated being within a few minutes' walk of the Minack and the beach café. With direct access to the coast path, there are good to walks to be enjoyed to Pedn Vounder, Treen, Porthgwarra, Nanjizal and Land's End too.

We look forward to returning.

I have been to Heatherlands before. It’s a lovely spacious house in the perfect setting. I hope to go again.

What a wonderful home! Heatherlands ticks all the boxes and is in a wonderful location. I can’t wait to return again. It is just a little way from the Minack theatre.

We loved our time at Heatherlands! After spending lock down in London we found the views to be spectacular! We were lucky enough to encounter big blue skies and beautiful views across the horizon throughout our late October visit. We stayed local for the majority of our stay, but was never short of things to do. Porthcurno beach was a delight, as was the Minack theatre (which became our local morning pit stop for a good coffee). The walks right on the doorstop were wonderful, a little tricky in places with a little one, but seeing seals frolic in the waves made the walk down to the beach below worth it. We were impressed at how warm and cosy the house was and we found everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and relaxed. We have wonderful memories and hope to visit again very soon! :)

The house is in a stunning location with breathtaking views of the sea and a lovely garden. It was a perfect getaway and very comfortable and spacious. It is very close to a gorgeous beach for swimming and the coastal paths are on your doorstep. We enjoyed using the log burner when it got a bit chilly in the evenings. We had everything we needed for a fantastic family holiday and will hopefully be back next year.

We were delighted to be able to stay at Heatherlands, just a week after the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions were lifted. The sea view from the upstairs rooms is magnificent, and we loved the garden, with its five levels and the replica Merry Maidens stone circle. We found the house itself spacious and comfortable, equipped with everything we needed. The location was just right for us, a short walk from the coast path and with easy access to Porthchapel Beach, which you can look down on from the end of the garden. There were minor issues with the wheelie bin being hidden in the garage and already quite full when we arrived, and an unbuilt wardrobe in the master bedroom. Perhaps we were the first to stay there this season post-lockdown. We certainly enjoyed having Heatherlands as our 'home' for a week though, and have already booked to return in 2021.

The property is in a beautiful spot with amazing views and outdoor space. The property is damp and cold and access to central heating surprisingly limited.

With its enviable location right on the southwest coast path with panoramic views, Heatherlands can be very exposed to the elements. It makes it a perfect spot for storm watching, but as a result, it can sometimes become a little damp. As soon as the owners are ever made aware of this happening, they have trades do everything they can to rectify it as quickly as possible and are working on more permeant solutions to this. They do currently have the heating on for set times but if this is not sufficient, please feel free to contact the team at Aspects so that we can assist. We hope that you still had a great time exploring this absolutely stunning area. Tanya, Customer Services

Lovely period property in a lovely location, clean and presentable but in need of some TLC, understandably the location means a never ending battle against the damp but it causes no problems during your holiday. Beware the over commercial Minack Theatre has resulted in massive numbers of vehicles using the single track road up the hill from Porthcurno, the constant battle with other drivers who either won't give way or don't know how to reverse can be the cause of much frustration but can be quite amusing to watch from the cafe at the bottom of the hill while enjoying a relaxing cold cider and a piece of their delicious homemade cake. Overall a very relaxed chilled out week in a beautiful part of Cornwall which unfortunately is no longer as quiet and remote as it once was, even the lovely coast path walks are now crowded in September.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are glad that you enjoyed staying at this property. It is set in such a stunning part of Cornwall, with the most amazing views and access straight on to the coastal path for some beautiful walks. Because of this amazing location, it can be susceptible to damp, but we always want to be completely open and honest with these things, so try to make this as clear as possible within the website description. At peak times, the roads and sometimes coastal paths can seem quite busy around these areas of Cornwall, but we are glad that you agreed is worth the 'battle' to see some of the most beautiful places in this stunning part of the county, and glad to hear that it provided you with a bit of extra entertainment ;-) There are many months when you can still get the quiet roads, beaches and coastal paths to yourself, so don't worry; it's not always that busy! Tanya, Customer Services

Heatherlands is a very special holiday home. The location is unrivalled for views and peace. We've enjoyed many family holidays there and hope to return again another year.

What an amazing property. The views were absolutely stunning. The house is so beautiful. It was not however up to standard.

When we arrived our 10 year old wanted to play ping pong as promised. The Garage was full of rubbish and the table folded and unuseable at the back.

The utility room was a mess, even the hoover was plugged in and left in the middle of the floor I then had to pop out and buy bleach for the toilets as they smelled so awful of stale urine.

After unpacking I set about cleaning both bathroom

The house is damp, I realise it is a coastal property being ravaged by the elements but it really needs some tender love and care. All the cupboards and drawers smelled so damp. We lived out of our suitcases.

I can see the kitchen is new, such a lovely floor, but the oven was so dirty. Big black lumps dropped out when we opened it.

There were cobwebs everywhere and all the books and games were dusty. The house is just not clean.

We paid a lot of money for our week at Heatherlands, it really shouldn’t be in the price bracket it is in. We stayed in a Classic Cottages property the week before, it was a similar price and absolutlely immaculate and what you expect from a holiday property.

We have been so very disappointed.

Please do pass this email on to the owners of the property. They should not be renting out Heatherlands in its current state.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

We are so sorry to hear that the stunning location, amazing views and your overall experience of this lovely property have been over-shadowed by these issues. The owners put a lot of time and care into this property and wanted us to convey their disappointment at hearing this as well. With its location right on the coastal path, and the traditional building materials used in this area, it can be susceptible to damp, especially during the wetter and more humid times, which we try to highlight as clearly as possible within the description, and the owners do everything that they can to keep this to a minimum for guests, but you should absolutely always expect the property to be cleaned to a high standard, so we are very sorry if that had not been the case on this occasion and that we were not aware of your concerns at the time. We would have done our utmost to put things right for you. Now being aware of this, we have spoken to the housekeeper and will closely monitor further feedback, we have also since visited the property to check that the standards of cleanliness are to the high levels that guests would expect, so thank you for your comments. The owners have confirmed that they will be clearing out and organising the garage, so in the meantime, the table tennis is no longer advertised as an available facility until the time that we have it confirmed that the garage is back in use, and the owners have now blocked out the property for some further improvement works to take place. I know that one of the team has since been in contact with you and I do hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Tanya, Customer Services

This is our favourite holiday house....we have stayed at Heatherlands so many times it is beginning to feel like our own holiday home - The location is perfect for Porthchapel Beach...we LOVE the garden and the house is very comfortable.... The views are to die for.

Lovely house in a wonderful location.

The property is situated in the perfect location, we thoroughly enjoyed our week in the property everything from booking to leaving was excellent, we will be back again and again

A perfect house for fair and foul weather and all seasons, the location by the coast path and views out to sea and along the cliffs are stunning. The house is very light airy and comfortable, beautifully furnished, well-equipped for preparing meals and baking (I brought my own hand-mixer). We used the woodburner on chilly evenings, but the wood available to buy locally was not good. The top garden is level and secure with the front gate closed, the lower cliffside gardens with benches, the mini stone circle and Celtic cross are charming but not for very young children or elderly.

Good pubs and cafes within walking distance on steep road/footpaths at Porthcurno, Porthgwarra and Treen.

We enjoyed the welcome cream tea. Thank you!

Heatherlands is the best holiday home we've ever rented, the garden and the panoramic sea views would be hard to beat.

Best house in the most sublimely beautiful setting!

You're welcome to use any remarks we've made above. Of course the good weather we had helped us enjoy ourselves (breakfast in the garden, early evening drinks with sun sparkling on silver sea) but I think it would be a great place even in a storm!

Thank you.

Are we allowed to book for 2019?

Stunning location with fantastic views with easy reach of great beaches and cafés

The views are spectacular and the garden is amazing. A very special place.
