Holidays in Porthleven

Whatever you love about Cornwall, we’re sure you'll find it while enjoying a holiday in Porthleven. Relax and enjoy the boats bobbing in the harbour, pull on the walking boots and join the coastal path to Rinsey and Praa Sands, take a short drive to nearby Marazion and the iconic St Michael's Mount, or hit the waves and surf until sunset.

This charming fishing town has a relaxing atmosphere; it's gorgeous in the Summer and dramatic during the Winter. The granite harbour and pier with its famous clock tower has become an iconic storm-watching spot during wild wintry weather and offers a tranquil setting on calmer days.

Take a short break out of season in Porthleven and avoid the hubbub on the roads and beaches. Soak up the sun on the harbour front and watch the fishing boats pass by. Catch the first glimpses of colour from the acres of Cornish daffodils in early spring with the sea as a back drop as you drive from coast to coast. With easy access to the coastal footpath, head east to discover Gunwalloe Fishing Cove, Polurnan Cliffs and Mullion Cove or head west and marvel at Praa Sands, Perranuthnoe and Marazion.

Take a short walk from Porthleven and reach the coarse sand of Porthleven beach, reaching two miles south as far as Loe Bar, a sand spit separating the sea and forming Loe Pool, the largest freshwater lake in Cornwall.

Porthleven harbour is an enjoyable place to relax, with its cafés, pubs and restaurants providing the perfect place for you to sit outside and watch the world float by!

Top tip

Like storm watching? Visit in winter and you may be lucky enough to experience huge waves crashing over the clock tower!

This was our 3rd stay at Harbour View House and yet again a fantastic visit - we would definately recommend this property

Lovely house, perfect location, plenty of space, great view over the harbour and dedicated parking space.

Lovely house with great views of the harbour

Harbour View house is located in a perfect place to sit in the first floor bay window and watch the world go by. With lovely views of the harbour and sea.

The house is warm, clean and very comfortable with everything that you would want for a comfortable break. The main bedroom has a huge superking bed and the kitchen has everything that you require.

We return every year because of the views, location and everything that Porthleven has to offer.

Wonderful house- we’ve stayed in many rental cottages in lovely Porthleven, and this is probably the best. The upstairs room is really sociable, well laid out and equipped, and the view from the bay windows is fabulous. Plus, a parking spot and a garden where you can eat breakfast above the harbour - you can’t ask for more!

Our family of six had a very good week at Harbour View House . The location is excellent just a five minute walk to the harbour and restaurants.Added bonus is the little garden across the road from the property where we spent some time every day. Ideal if you want to have a barbecue and chill out.

Lovely house, great view of the harbour, plenty of very good eating places, good walks around the area.

Another fantastic week in Porthleven staying at Harbour View House. This is a great location- whether you are staying local or exploring the wider area. The views from the house are brilliant, and you are stroll away from all the action without being in thick of the centre.

Our second visit - very well equipped house and the view of harbour is amazing. Comfortable furniture and great little seating area opposite the cottage - perfect for watching the world go by with a glass of wine. With parking and dog friendly the perfect place to stay.

Great house with a great view in a lovely coastal village.

Great location! Spacious for 6 people with fabulous outlook over the inner harbour. The little garden is a welcome spot to sit watching life go by.

We absolutely loved Harbour View House and wished we could have stayed longer. Very calm home with an amazing view. So lovely to be able to walk to the pub and restaurants and the coastal path in both directions. The fire was great in a cold January week. All the 5 stars and more … we will return.

Really enjoyed our stay at 3rd stay at Harbour View House, even more so this year given how wet the New Year week was but the upstairs living area and seats fitted into the bay windows meant we could still enjoy the views from inside - plus plenty of space to play with the kids and keep them entertained.

Although only 1 car fits on the drive, parking at this time of year was easy as there was always space opposite the cottage to park on the roadside. Although nothings the same as your own bed, the beds here were comfortable and the cottage had everything needed for a great week away - the included high chair and travel cot were extremely useful.

A few negatives were that the en-suite shower door kept coming off the runners and didn’t close completely and the toilet in here also let out a strong smell of urine whenever used. The hot water timer was a bit inconvenient as we had to keep manually setting this to get hot water when needed but we made it work without issue. A few items like the rug and sofas could do with an upgrade too.

Overall a really good break to one of our favourite Cornish harbours and already booked up for next New Years week!

Fantastic family house in a wonderful location. Well equipped, and we found it exactly as described.

Great house in great location. This has been our second year here and we will be back next year. Love it

Our third stay at Harbour View House. Lovely place. We come to Porthleven regularly and will try to book the same venue again next time

Harbour View is a large spacious, comfortable property with fantastic views of the harbour and Porthleven. We’ve stayed many times and love to sit in the window and watch the world go by! It is great for access to both the beach and the coastal path and all the fantastic shops and cafes / restaurants in the town. It also has the added bonus of a small lawned area for pets and parking. We love it!

Lovely comfortable and well equipped house - amazing views and delightful little garden opposite - and spacious off road parking - brilliant coastal walks with our dog - we used the incredibly cheap bus to Praa and then walked back - pubs and restaurants especially Kota all excellent- we have already booked for next year!

This is a lovely spacious property and the views are spectacular. Will definitely book again

Holiday home from home. Good value for money, and brilliant views of the harbour.

Could not fault anything with Harbour View House - everything was perfect. Kitchen was so well equipped we didn't want for anything. Whole house was spotlessly clean and in a fantastic spot for watching over the harbour. Location great for visiting other towns and villages nearby. We ate out in Porthleven and the food was amazing. We will definately return

This is an ideal property in a perfect location. The upside down layout gives lovely views over the harbour where there is always something to see. The parking space was very useful but parking was always available just opposite the house too for the extra cars. We had a wonderful time in the house and in Porthleven which is a great harbour town with plenty of eating, drinking and shopping establishments. Would definitely recommend.

Love Porthleven, love Harbour View House- we hope to be back again next year.

The house is great as is Porthleven. If you want a lovely relaxing holiday come here. We liked it so much we are coming back next year

Returned for a second visit to Harbour View House. Everything was to an excellent standard. We will be returning.

Harbour House is a lovely comfortable property. We stayed as two couples and a dog and plenty of room to spread out. Little garden over the road a great space to sit and enjoy the views. We watched the harbour all week , didn’t put the TV on once, watched the world go by from the window seat or garden at the end of the day. Room for two cars at the side of the house and there is a hose to remove the presents from the roosting seagulls…. Plenty of parking space on the road also.

Harbour View House is an excellent location to sit and watch the town and the harbour from the comfy chairs situated in the large bay windows. The house is excellently located to wander into the town or walk up to the coastal path. It is a short distance to the beach and the coastal path to Looe Bar. The house has a brilliant central location. The house has everything that you need, comfortable beds, bedding and towels all of good quality. The kitchen has everything you require to cook food and all the utensils and appliances are good dependable makes. I love this house and staying there because the comfort and quality ensures that you feel like you’re at home when you are on your holidays.

A great property for a family in the perfect location in Porthleven

Well laid out with plenty of space, a great location for a stroll around the pretty harbour to the beach with plenty of places to eat and drink close by. perfect!
