From books to jewellery to freshly made food, shopping in St Ives is a Cornish tradition thanks to the cobbled streets and independent shops that line them.

This picture perfect little house is in a great location. A stones throw from shops, pubs, restaurants and beaches. The tiny gated courtyard is perfect for the dog too.

Steeped in history, Downalong is a timeless haven that captures the fishing heritage and thriving art community of this enchanting area of St Ives. With all that St Ives has to offer on your doorstep, spend endless days exploring the sandy shores, stunning coastal paths and bustling harbourside.
Downalong is a historic Cornish term for an area of harbourside fisherman's cottages 'down along the harbour'?

Mrs Boardman Mar 2024
Lovely stay and very comfortable. Excellent location and very close to St Eia for excellent wines and lunch. Short walk to beaches, highly recommended.
Mr Rodriguez Sep 2023
Trecara is a well equipped & comfortable cottage ideally situated just a few minutes walk from the beaches & main shops.
Mrs Hatton Sep 2023
Perfect location. Although the property is small, the owner has managed to squeeze in all basic facilities such as washing machine / tumble drier / dishwasher. Good size for 2 adults, 1 toddler and 1 baby but living room space restricted if you want to put dining table up. Would stay here again.
Mrs O’connor Jul 2023
Great cottage in a great location, very close to beautiful beaches and the town shops , highly recommended and would stay there again
Mrs Darwin May 2023
Trecara was a lovely cottage to stay in. Tucked away down Hicks Court you felt away from the world and yet, a stones throw from the heart of the action in both the town and Porthmeor beach. Recommend to park on Island car park and buy a week's pass. We left the car for the whole week and did everything by foot or bud as we explored the surrounding area. St Ives provided all that we needed and Trecara was a homely winter holiday venue. Loved it!
Mrs Perry Feb 2023
This is a lovely old house ideally placed for exploring the old streets of St. Ives and minutes from the harbour and beaches. Around 5 minutes walk from the island car park. The decor is lovely and the sofas are comfortable for relaxing after a day exploring. A modern bathroom and a nice little courtyard which was perfect for letting the dog out for their business. It’s the kind of house where you really have to eat out during the day and evening - the kitchen is quite sterile (stainless steel) and far too small to do anything substantial. Couldn’t open the dishwasher as it hits the folded table, and the sink is so badly placed that washing the dishes or filling the kettle is uncomfortable and awkward. Overall it’s a lovely base to explore from and it must be difficult to place Modern amenities in a traditional house. Stay if you’re not cooking and want to be in the perfect location.

We are so pleased you enjoyed the location of Trecara, perfect for relaxing in after a busy day exploring everything St Ives has to offer. The central location does mean that space within the property is limited, and we hope you agree that the owners have done a great job fitting in all the needed amenities into a smaller space, to make it a cosy base for stays. While the galley kitchen has everything needed to make a home-cooked meal, some may prefer to try out the many local restaurants within walking distance. Katy, Customer Services.
Trecara is a lovely, cosy home from home. We had everything we needed for the week and we had an amazing week
Miss Siddorn Jul 2022
A fantastic little gem , within walking distance to the beach , shops , restaurants etc in the amazing st Ives , yet tucked away so also very quiet with no Evening noise etc . We were a party of 2 adults , 2 children and a dog . The gated courtyard was perfect and safe for our dog to go out and do her business.
We arrived to a lovely bottle of fizz and dog treats which was a lovely touch after a long journey . Thank you .
Beautifully decorated throughout with all that you need for a home from home experience. Even a washing machine and dryer . We pre-booked the car park for the week as recommended by aspects and glad we did as we may have struggled to find a space . I will say storage upstairs is a little tight for 4 people but then again I do overpack haha .
We had a wonderful week and would definitely stay again . Thank you aspects as always .

Lovely cottage down a sweet little alley in superb location close to beach, pubs restaurants.
Comfy and cosy. Had a great week.
Mr Solari Feb 2022
The cottage location was excellent. Seconds to Porthmeor Beach as well as the harbour, with some lovely wine bars within a stones throw. The cottage was clean and well equipped with a washing machine and dryer, as well as a dishwasher, and has a great rustic feel to it. There was also a nice outdoor terrace area which we used every day. The only downside was space. We were a family of four adults and a baby. It was a little on the tight side for storage, with one wardrobe between the two bedrooms and some of the other storage in the bedrooms taken up by other household items. It is perfect size for a couple. I would also advise arranging parking before arrival, we managed to get a spot on Barnoon car park which is a short hilly walk away after we had unloaded nearer to the cottage. We would definitely come back again.

Beautiful cottage in a perfect place in St Ives. Cottage is light and airy and has all the things you need for a perfect break.
Mrs Howell Sep 2021
Amazing holiday in St Ives staying at the beautiful Trecara. In a brilliant location and very quiet even though in a central location. We did not want to leave!!
Mrs Baxter May 2021
Small, cosy cottage offering great location (apart from access by car), 50 metres from Porthmeor Beach and 50 metres from the main high street yet tucked away in a really quiet, historic corner of the old streets of St Ives. Cottage offers "rustic charm" rather than luxury comfort but it's location is so good, everything is right there on the doorstep to explore.
Mr Cann Nov 2020
We enjoyed a lovely week staying at Trecara which is tucked away in a quiet courtyard but is within a few minutes walk of Porthmeor beach, the Tate and main shopping streets. The cottage was a good size, clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything needed for our stay. Plenty of seating in the living room area and large main bedroom & bathroom. Nice to have the choice of a bath or use of the over bath shower. We would definitely like to stay here again in the future.

Trecara is a beautiful property set in the heart of The Downalong area, perfectly situated for easy access to Porthmeor, Porthgwidden, Fore Street and the harbour. Stunningly decorated and well equipped for a wonderful holiday. As a very regular St Ives visitor, I would highly recommend this property.

We had a lovely week in Trecara. The location is superb , just minutes from the beach and the hustle and bustle of Fore Street yet really quiet inside .
