Shopping in St Ives
From books to jewellery to freshly made food, shopping in St Ives is a Cornish tradition thanks to the cobbled streets and independent shops that line them.
Lower Deck is possibly one of the cutest cubby holes for a couple that you could possibly find. As it is on a lower ground floor level, you will be tucked away in your own little world and you will still benefit from a sheltered and incredibly cute outside area to sit and have breakfast in the morning, or dine al fresco in the evening.
The apartment has been lovingly furnished and thought out and it's safe to say that when you open the doors you will be ecstatic at what you find. Porthmeor Beach is only a five minute walk away, and after a day on the beach and a romantic evening watching the beautiful sunsets, you can retire back to your snuggly holiday hideaway.
7 steps down to the property, leading into:
sofa, TV, table with seating for two.
electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer.
double bed.
shower, WC, basin.
table and two chairs.
The apartment is on a lower ground floor level, the only doors/windows in the apartment are those to the front, electric heaters. Please note there is no washing machine at the property, WiFi, short breaks available.
Cosy basement flat in a great location to enjoy & explore beautiful St Ives! Enjoyed walking everywhere, getting the train to Carbis Bay & using the tourist bus just £2 each journey to Sennen. The accommodation is well equipped & we found it did provide enough light, although no windows in bedroom or bathroom.

As described, this property was very cute. Great location as long as you don’t mind a short walk uphill. Would book again!!

With a beachside cafe boasting panoramic sea views and a popular surf school catering to all abilities, the sheltered cove of Porthmeor has all you need for fun-filled beach days, plus the bustling heart of St Ives and the iconic harbour is just a short walk away. Relax and enjoy the view from one of our many self-catering beach-front apartments in this delightful corner of St Ives. You can plan your beach days by checking our Porthmeor beach webcam.
Porthmeor means 'large cove' in Cornish?

Good location wise, didn't miss lack of window in bedroom. plenty of light through the patio doors. quaint, cosy, comfortable for one person. would book it again if going back to St Ives myself
HRH Storie Jul 2024
A brilliant little apartment, only a stones throw from the beach and the town. Absolutely spot on!
Mrs Gurney Jul 2024
Really lovely apartment. Really cosy and warm during a very windy and wet new year. Location perfect for coming and going from the beaches and the harbour.
Mrs Bridges Jan 2024
The apartment was cosy and well equipped.
Mr Richards Oct 2023
Lovely little hideaway for a couple. Very clean and had everything we needed. Only thing I didn’t like and feel like it should be in the description is that the above apartment had a parking space right outside our window so the little view we had was hidden by the parked car.

Thanks for the review and we are glad you enjoyed your time there. As a lower ground apartment, there are no views with this property. So whilst there is a parking space outside and therefore, a car will be visible above the wall of the outside area if it is occupied, it isn't impacting upon any view from the property. We are sorry if this was not what you had expected. Tanya, Customer Services
Lower deck was a lovely place to stay in St Ives. It is very close to a car park and there are a few routes that get you to town, porthmoer beach and the harbour. It is a-bit far out from the town and does require a walk up a hill. The place itself was fully equipped with everything needed for the stay! It was very clean and would highly recommend!
Miss Pugh Jun 2022
A great stay in St.Ives. Property was just perfect for the 2 of us. Lovely property with a great feel, food facilities and a lovely feel. Was very well located to easily access the beaches, harbour and centre. Will definitely stay there again.
Ms Randall May 2022
Great stay lovely snug accommodation well recommend ??
Mr Philip May 2022
Great little place to stay behind the Tate Gallery and Porthmeor beach. Lower ground property, so no views. Steep cobbled streets and hills to reach the Lower Deck. Good exercise!
Miss Sutherland Apr 2022
I really enjoyed my stay in Lower Deck. It is perfect for one person. Very comfortable and has everything you need for a short stay. Great location despite being on a steep hill. Still very accessible to the main street. A great company and provided a very helpful and efficient service, especially with being able to collect the keys from the taxi driver and deliver them back via the taxi company. Thank you so much for a perfect stay! I am sure I will stay there again!
Miss Burn Apr 2022
Great stay at Lower Deck. The location is fantastic although it’s a steep climb home and the accommodation, although small has all you need for a short stay.
Miss Hopkin Nov 2021
Lovely place to stay, quaint and so accessible to the beach and shops. It is hilly but we really enjoyed our stay. Especially sitting outside in the nook with a glass of wine! Very relaxing.
Mrs Casey Nov 2021
Enjoyed our stay at Lower Deck, cosy tucked away apartment ideal for couples. Ideal location just up from the Tate Gallery. Several ways to get to the apartment from Porthmeor and Fore street, all steep hills. Good value for money and a nice spot for watching the sunsets just outside of the apartment. Would recommend for those looking for a base to explore St Ives that don’t mind a bit of a walk :)
Miss Lynbeck Jul 2021
Lovely tucked away apartment, but still central with a short set of steps to either the harbour or Porthmeor beach...very steep but you expect that for St Ives. If you come by car I would suggest you pre book parking as the local car park at Barnoon is tiny ! Really well equipped for a few days away...I would definitely recommend for a quiet, cosy stay.
Miss Giles May 2021
If privacy and seclusion are what you want then this is the perfect property... Tucked out of the way yet still close to everything st Ives has to offer. Perfect for an individual seeking a quiet relaxing holiday and also for a couple on a romantic getaway.
Mr Speller Apr 2021
Lower Deck is a very cute apartment which is tucked away but still very close to Porthmeor Beach. It’s clean and has everything you need for a lovely holiday in St Ives. I would definitely stay there again and will hopefully return next year.
Ms Marsh Oct 2020
Lovely little cottage. Great location. No windows apart from the sliding door but great value for money. Massive hills to get up to the cottage- be warned if you aren’t fit!
Miss Johns Sep 2020
Lovely underground apartment tucked away from view. Very cosy and homely with extra little features such as dvds, board games and beach equipment available for use. Beautifully decorated inside. Bed and sofa are comfortable.
Only downside is the parking, the nearest car park is a minutes walk away but this was filled up everytime we went in. We ended up parking in the park and ride car park which is a 15 minute walk away up a step hill. We are young and healthy so we managed okay but i imagine those who are older or with mobility issues would struggle.
Would definitely recommend staying here and i would 100% come back.
Miss Law Aug 2020
Fantastic location and very well-equipped. Great base for an active week in Cornwall!
Mr Barrie Jul 2020
Quaint little place, ideal location. Comfortable for two people, nice standard of property. Pleasant stay.
Miss Gill Jul 2020
The accommodation was perfect for a romantic break away. Fully equipped with everything that you need, definitely a home from home! The location is very private and quiet. The only downside for us was the unavailability of parking spaces on the closest car park. I will definitely choose a property with parking next time!

We are glad to hear how much you enjoyed Lower Deck. It is a shame that the lack of parking would potentially prevent you from returning to a property that clearly worked so well for you. The nearest car park can fill up very quickly, but there are other options that may help next time, such as St Ives secure Parking and St Ives rugby club. There are also several private spaces rented out which can be booked in advance on JustPark. Hopefully, with these options in mind, we may see you back here again soon. Tanya, Customer Services
This is a really lovely property for two. We had a wonderful 3 night break, very clean, very well equipped, very easy to heat as all the radiators are electric and instant. Lovely comfy bed and pillows. Really well equipped as a home from home, rather than a holiday let, games, DVDs, everything you could want should the weather be inclement. The spot is brilliant, as so close to our favourite restaurant at Porthmeor beach, and just as easy into town. Very steep to get back, which works off the cream teas, but maybe be mindful if anyone has mobility issues, however we are in our 60's, youngsters wouldn't have an issue I'm sure!!!! Despite the fact that there is no outlook, as the name Lower Deck suggests, we found the property to be light and airy. Would we recommend? Absolutely
Mrs Clewes Nov 2019
Really cosy apartment, which is well equiped . Great location for the beaches and shops Approx 2 minute walk. No parking, but Barnoon long stay car-park is 100 yards away. Would recommend the apartment for couples who want a central location.
Mr Wood Nov 2019
Excellent location and ideal accommodation for a couple. Comfortable and well furnished.
Mr Anstey Oct 2019
Our Lower deck stay was brilliant, we are a young couple and was perfect and cosy for us. The cottage was well equipt for everything you need and even came with beach equiptment such as desk chairs/windbreakers/body boards. This was a great location for us, The cottage is on a hill so be mindful of elderly or young children as this might prove difficulty. Overall we loved our stay and definitely will be returning. Great value for money :)
Miss Wragg Sep 2019
Beautiful seaside apartment which is very well equipped , only a few minutes walk to the beach and town.Perfect holiday for my daughter and myself. Aspect holiday staff were lovely ladies and would definitely book again
Mrs Decker Aug 2019
We loved our visit to Lower Deck. It was immaculately presented and offered everything we needed. We would highly recommend and hope to visit again.
Mrs Finch Jan 2019
The Lower Deck was a great property for us, as we only needed a place to sleep and wash, the decor was excellent and everything was done to a fine finish. If you plan to make the most of your visit to St Ives and don't plan on staying in your property for long periods of time the Lower Deck is your answer.
Mr Ashforth Jul 2018
Bijou flat just minutes from centre of St Ives and the beach. Although it is located on a steep hill. Perfect for a couple. Kitchen was well equipped for cooking.
Mrs Lloyd - Griffiths Jul 2018
The property's accomodation and decor was first class
