Shopping in St Ives
From books to jewellery to freshly made food, shopping in St Ives is a Cornish tradition thanks to the cobbled streets and independent shops that line them.
Alma House is set over three floors and offers comfortable family accommodation located a stone's throw from town. Having recently had a bathroom and kitchen refurbishment and the addition of a cloakroom, Alma House is ideal for families looking for a home from home, within walking distance of all that St Ives has to offer. With more light and space than the traditional fishermen's cottages, this Victorian family home is just a five minute walk into the heart of St Ives town, with its cobbled streets, variety of restaurants, galleries, pubs and shops. The harbour and other beaches are also just a pleasant stroll away, and although there is no parking with the property, there is a handy short stay car park just a few feet away, ideal for loading and unloading as well as a long stay car park just a few seconds' drive from the house.

We booked a week at Alma House with our 2 young children.. we had such a lovely time and created lots of beautful memories to cherish. The house is located in a superb location close to all amenities… it’s very clean and has everything you need to feel like home. Thank you for a great holiday ?? We would definitely recommend to anyone.

We had a lovely holiday at Alma House in St. Ives. St. Ives is a beautiful little town with lots of lovely shops and beaches to suit a variety of needs. Alma house was clean and well-presented. It is on three floors and the rooms are all good sizes, particularly the double bedrooms. The bedrooms all had blinds at the windows but no curtains, so was very bright in the mornings. The bathroom was huge, with both a bath and separate shower within it. It was really handy having a second toilet next to the main bathroom, as we were a group of six adults. The kitchen was very well equipped and also had a dishwasher, which was a bonus. There was a small back yard, which was good for hanging wetsuits and other swimming accessories. It was great having a separate dining room and, whilst the dining table was a little small for six adults, we managed to eat several meals there. The wi-fi access was good throughout the house, even on the top floor. The property is on the main road into St. Ives, so was quite busy, but meant that it was fairly accessible with a car (unlike many other properties in St. Ives). There is small short stay car park behind the property, which is useful for loading and unloading. We bought a weekly pass for the main (Trenwith) Car Park, which was great value at only £26.50, and, whilst it was a steep walk up to it, it was only a five minute walk back down to the house. Alma house is only a few minutes walk to the town centre and a ten minute walk to the harbour. We felt that Alma House met all of our needs and if going to St. Ives in the future, would definitely consider booking this again.

We loved Alma Terrace. It was spotlessly clean. It has very comfortable Kingsize Beds. We had a lovely welcome pack. Very conveniently situated. With easy access to the quirky cobbled streets of St Ives and the beautiful Harbour, even for me. There was a Bus Stop opposite and the Tourist information centre was literally just down the road. All in all a great place to stay to visit St Ives.

Great holiday, good location, front garden needs tidying up & front door needs replacing.
Mr Bagley Jul 2021
Fabulous weekend stay at Alma House, good location, only a 5 min walk down into the town. Very clean and comfortable and great for a family. Only negative was that the decor in places is very tired (bathroom and living room) could do with a freshen up.

Unfortunately, there is only a handheld shower in the bath and no shower cubicle, but we try to make this clear on the website photos and description so that guests know what to expect, as we know that this will not suit everyone. We hope that this didn't cause you too many problems and that it wasn't too much of a disappointment. Not all bedrooms will have a wardrobe, but there will always be some form of clothes storage, whether that be a set of drawers, a rail or some hanging hooks. This will generally be shown within the photos and/or description, but if you are ever looking to book with us again, please do not hesitate to get in touch, as we will always be happy to check what storage is available, so that you know that you will have everything that you want in your chosen property. We do hope that you still had a great time here. Tanya, Customer Services
Ideal location for all of the beaches as long as you don't mind walking up steps, steep hills ect, extremely well equipped house, real home from home feel perfect for families. Would definitely recommend to others.

Thank you for your comments. We are glad to hear that you liked Alma House. Unfortunately unless you are right in town, you do have a few hills and steps to contend with. Getting to the town centre or the harbour is probably the flattest walk; depending on which route you take, getting over to Porthmeor Beach or Porthminster Beach could involve a few more hills, but I'm sure you agree, worth it.
