Sleeping five, with parking, Chy An Goth is located in the small hamlet of Truthwall, just outside the town of St Just. Surrounded by rugged coastline, this wonderful and wild pocket of Cornwall beckons keen walkers for rambles along the South West Coast Path, with stunning scenery and a feeling of being encompassed by the ocean. Spend midsummer evenings gathered together to dine al fresco on the terrace, after preparing a mouthwatering supper using local produce. As the sun sets, let the evening continue outside, reminiscing and making plans over a bottle of wine, under a sprinkling of stars in the night sky above. On the cooler evenings, snuggle up together on the velvet sofas for storytelling in front of the woodburner, while the sweet scent of apple crumble baking in the oven, drifts through from the well-equipped kitchen.

A short stroll from the cottage leads to The Queens Arms, a traditional Cornish pub. Pop in for a refreshing Cornish cider and spend summer evenings dining in the garden or in front of the cosy fire when winter arrives. Characterful St Just is less than a mile away, where you can find cafes, shops, a supermarket and several pubs. Coastal adventures aplenty, the golden sands of Portheras and surfers' paradise, Sennen Cove are just a short drive away. Away from the hustle and bustle of St Ives but so easy to reach, make the pleasurable drive along the scenic coastal road for another day's adventure. Chy An Goth is ideally located to explore this beautiful part of the county and you will want to return year after year.

Land’s End

As the most westerly town in mainland Britain, St Just is close to the popular attraction of Land's End. Have your photo taken at the famous Land's End signpost, experience one of the family attractions, or simply enjoy the breathtaking views and the rugged landscape.  

Tanglewood Wild Gardens

Located just a few miles down the road from St Just, you’ll discover the magical world of Tanglewood Wild Gardens. Explore nine acres of wild gardens and woodland, home to an abundance of wildlife, quirky sculptures and interactive games. Pack a picnic and enjoy it with the family, amidst the sounds and sights of nature. 

Cape Cornwall Golf Club

Geevor Tin Mine

Not far from St Just, you’ll find Geevor Tin Mine, the largest preserved mining site in the country, and the last example of a complete 20th century tin mine. Here you can learn all about the history of mining in Cornwall and even take a tour underground!

St Michael's Mount

When visiting west Cornwall, a trip to the iconic St Michael’s Mount is a must. Steeped in history, and with nowhere else quite like it, this tidal island with its fairy-tale castle is truly the jewel in Cornwall's crown. Be sure to plan ahead and check the tide times, if the tide is in you’ll have to hop on one of the regular ferry boats, otherwise you’ll be wading back!

With such spectacular scenery on your doorstop, St Just is perfect for experiencing the great outdoors. Be sure to bring your walking boots so you can explore some of the many walks in the area…

The South West Coast Path

One of the best things about west Cornwall has to be its wild and rugged coastline, and walking the South West Coast Path is one of the best ways to explore it. Join the coast path at Cape Cornwall and you can walk to Sennen, Land’s End, Porthcurno or even onto Lamorna or Mousehole. Alternatively, head in the other direction towards Pendeen Lighthouse and towards Zennor. 

St Just to Cape Cornwall

This walk takes you across fields, past prehistoric sites and into the Cot Valley where you can extend the walk down to Port Navern, a keen spot for bird-watchers, before returning to the village of St Just.

Carn Galver to Men-An-Tol

If you’re interested in seeing some of Cornwall’s legendary prehistoric sites, then this walk begins in a location just a short drive from St Just. Beginning at Carn Galver, the route follows moorland paths leading to the Four Parish Stone, the Merry Maidens stone circle, Ding Dong, and onto Men-An-Tol. As well as the multiple stone sites, you’ll enjoy stunning panoramic views.

Beaches

If you walk along the coast path in west Cornwall, you’ll discover a plethora of hidden coves, however, there are a few bigger, more practical beaches to visit for a day on the sand.

Sennen Cove Beach

This large expanse of golden sand is the perfect place to visit for a day at the beach. Whether you plan to spend your time surfing, swimming, rock-pooling or simply relaxing on the sand, there’s plenty of space for everyone. 

Porthcurno Beach

This stunning beach boasts soft golden sand and turquoise waters, and with lifeguard cover from mid-May through to the end of September, it’s a popular choice for families. Sheltered by cliffs on either side, and with stunning views, it’s truly a little piece of paradise.  

Events

Visit St Just in July and you'll be able to take in the atmosphere at the popular Lafrowda festival; a fortnight of family friendly activities including dance workshops and colourful processions which make their way through the crowds.

For a more ancient celebration, Feast Day is a two-day event in November, which celebrates the dedication of the parish church.

We’ve had a wonderful week at this stunning property. The location on the coast path is perfect with the sea views from the balcony much more than the “glimpses” that were in the description! There are no words to describe how much we loved staying in Chy An Goth. The house was just perfect in every way!

From the cream tea (which was very much welcomed after an 8 hour drive), the supply of hand soap & cleaning products, the extremely comfy beds, the enclosed private back garden, and the sea views from the balcony (even though they were distant, on a clear day it was a very beautiful sight!).

Perfect location, very quiet, with a lovely little pub a few minutes walk away that does excellent food. Amazing coastal walks, just a few minutes from the door!

We will be back! Hopefully very soon!!

Chy an Goth is a beautiful new cottage but looks older. Very well equipped. Plenty of room for a family or 2 couples. Excellent location for buses & St. Just town, plus the pub at Botallack, The Queen's Arms. Lovely cream tea welcomes you. Very clean, warm & comfortable.

Cannot rate this property highly enough, it is furnished and equipped superbly with every need catered for....even items for a cream team (which was very welcome after a long journey). The place was spotless when we arrived.

The local pub at Botallack, the Queen's Arms, is well worth the short walk and also recommend the Land's End Coaster bus that stops just a minute from the house.

Would not hesitate in recommending Chy An Goth to others and hopefully we can stay again in the not too distant future.

This is a beautiful new property furnished to a high standard and well equipped. We loved the quiet location situated on a lane which leads you on to the cliff tops towards Cape Cornwall or Botallack. We also appreciated the sea views from the balcony. Highly recommended and would love to stay here again soon.
